The Manager, Leaves and Workers Compensation Programs is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the process for Leaves of Absences (LOA’s) and Workers' Compensation (WC) cases. This role will be tasked with driving operational excellence, process improvements, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, while being in compliance with the Family and Medical Leave Act and all related state and federal employment laws.
Key Responsibilities:
Critical contributions this role is counted on to deliver include:
  • Produces and manages reporting metrics and analytics for all leave cases, accommodations, and workers’ compensation claims. Monitoring and identifying trends and possible areas of concern and improvement.
  • Stays up to date with federal, state, and local laws related to leaves of absence, accommodation, and workers' compensation, and ensure company policies and practices align with current regulations.
  • Conducts training sessions for managers, supervisors, and employees on LOA and workers' compensation policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the management of LOA and WC cases, ensuring accurate documentation, timely communication with employees, and proper coordination with relevant stakeholders.
  • Develops LOA and WC related policies and programs meant to reduce employee absences, facilitate return to work after an injury or illness, and promote an inclusive workplace.
  • Continuously evaluate and enhance LOA and WC processes to streamline efficiency, reduce administrative burden, and improve overall employee satisfaction.
  • Utilizes data analytics to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement in LOA and WC processes.
  • Works closely with EHS on reviewing trends and on the proactive development of mitigation strategies for claims and ergonomic concerns.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams, such as HRBPs, Legal, Benefits, and Payroll, to implement process improvements and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Partners closely with HRBPs on all related cases/claims. Meets regularly to review the status of cases/claims and develops legally sound strategies for a mutually beneficial resolution.
Capabilities & Skills Required:
To take on these challenges, you will need to have:
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts effectively to diverse audiences.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to LOA, accommodation, and workers' compensation, including FMLA, ADA, and state-specific regulations.
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field.
  • In-depth understanding of technical applications in leave management and workers' compensation programs
  • 5-8 years of experience in leave management, accommodation, workers' compensation, or a related field, with a proven track record of process improvement.
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality when dealing with sensitive employee information.
  • Strong analytical skills, with proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
  • At least 2 years’ experience leading and managing a team of at least 1 direct report.
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with a focus on fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
  • Demonstrated learning agility and adaptability to stay current with evolving HR laws and best practices.

Annual Pay
Annual Pay Range
$111,700.00 - $167,500.00
This represents the minimum and maximum base salary range for this role, plus annual incentive. Various elements are used to determine a candidate’s starting salary such as job experience, specific skills, and comparison to internal incumbents currently in the role.
