Food Bank For New York City is seeking a Manager of Digital Communications to execute and drive the success and performance of the organization’s main website and microsites, email communications, program portals, and internal digital communications. This Manager of Digital Communications will be a member of Food Bank’s Communications and Marketing team and will report to the Communications Director. The selected candidate will collaborate closely with all members of the organization to build and lead a strategic approach to digital efforts including the oversight of email calendars, website content updates, and performance metrics. In the next twelve months, Food Bank plans to overhaul its main website and the manager will be heavily involved in all activity tied to this important project; this includes the launch of mobile applications that will help people find food in their communities and also support fundraising efforts. The manager will also assist with occasional social media support, and other tasks as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Act as Webmaster for Food Bank’s website which includes: managing content updates (copy, photography, videos, lightboxes, and graphics) and maintenance of all pages, mobile apps, donation forms, and program intake forms.
• Identify and recommend new features and plug-ins to utilize, and maintain the overall health for the main website, special microsites, and various web portals.
• Create and manage a robust strategy for internal and external email communications focused on engagement and performance. This includes the design and distribution of Food Bank’s monthly staff e-news, internal news digest, messages from the CEO and other leadership, combined with supporting the release of other external emails (excluding donor communications) to the general public.
• Act as liaison for the organization’s Intranet which will include section updates and planning, as well as content creation with an eye focused on employee engagement.
• Partner with Food Bank’s content creators and graphic designers to ensure alignment in the posting and distribution of content in email communications, blog posts, and website pages.
• Provide occasional support in the form of content creation, publishing posts, and assessing metrics across all of Food Bank’s social media channels.
• Assist in other duties as needed.
Experience, Education and Training Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in digital marketing, Website Design, Communications or related field required;
• 2-3 years of experience with Website Design, Development and Content Management Systems (preferable in WordPress).
• Proficiency with HTML, Microsoft Office 365 suite, Adobe Suite, Project Management, and other programs and tools.
• Experience creating and managing outreach strategy for digital platforms.
• Previous experience managing external agencies and consultants in the subject area preferred;
• Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to project professional competence, leadership capability & personal and professional maturity;
• Excellent writing, editing, and communications skills.
• 2-3 years of experience in communications teams in non-profit, government or foundation settings.
• Strong analytical and organization skills along with an attention to detail;
• Ability to work well independently and as part of a team and be able to handle multiple deadline assignments in a fast-paced work environment;
• Previous nonprofit or government experience promoting cause or mission-related activities, advocacy and/or public policy issues preferred.
