Job Description
Who are we hiring?

The Manager of Building Operations is accountable for the overall upkeep of the MSG Arena food and beverage equipment in both the concession stands and kitchens. The Manager oversees/prioritizes preventive maintenance as well as all repairs of the equipment. The manager collaborates with food and beverage and operations staff and reacts as needed within a fast paced and dynamic environment to assure maximum up-time of equipment. Success in this role is demonstrated by an exceptional in-service time with equipment as well as response time to any issues which arise. A high emphasis will be on the commitment to the engagement and development of repair team and achievement of business results. The Manager Building Operations reports to the Director of Electrical & Engineering Operations

What will you do?

  • Approve 3rd party work tickets and billing managing within annual budget
  • Conduct periodic meetings with supervisors and team leads covering Department of Health (DOH) guidelines, cleanliness initiatives, service, and product changes
  • Utilize the 24/7 work ticket system to manage equipment and parts inventory, repair orders and preventive maintence
  • Coordinate kitchen exhaust duct PM/Cleaning and Ansul hood fire systems maintenance as required by FDNY
  • Maintain a high level of integrity, a positive attitude and adherence to all Company objectives and goals
  • Develop a 5-year capital plan for end-of-life equipment replacement
  • Manage 3rd party repair and maintenance company. Assign daily tasks, track progress, order and inventory all parts while cognizant of hours worked and labor costs
  • Plan and oversee smaller F&B stand, bar and kitchen upgrade projects working with the capital projects team

What do you need to succeed?

  • 5-8 years of technical and troubleshooting background - With experience on electrical and mechanical equipment operation and infrastructure within an entertainment venue.
  • Candidates who have completed a minimum of 60 credit hours of college-level coursework (representing 2 years), or have shown similar self-development through certifications, trade school coursework, etc. are preferred.
  • Experience managing union staff preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Office, Zoom.
  • Demonstrated experience coaching, mentoring, and developing staff and ability to monitor performance and to hold individuals accountable for outcomes.
  • Adept at maintaining a positive, open, approachable, and professional relationship with a diverse group.
  • Ability to manage cross-functional teams and to build collaborative relationships that motivate and encourage performance even without direct reporting relationship.
  • Experience managing budgets, maintaining spare parts inventories, and ordering equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with all levels in the organization in a variety of settings and group sizes.
  • Comfortable employing sound business judgement to manage conflict and solve problems with a sense of urgency.
  • Proactive self-starter with proven ability to manage multiple tasks while under tight deadlines.
  • Previous experience within Arena and/or entertainment facilities

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holiday, and split days off; willing to travel to other venues as needed.
  • Lifting 25 lbs., standing for long periods and walking long distances.
  • Formal training in technical diagnostic and troubleshooting
