Summary
Paycor’s Accounting Manager role is a critical role that oversees and manages the daily activities of the accounting team, ensuring the monthly close and consolidation process is completed in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The Accounting Manager role is highly collaborative and one that leads process improvement for an accurate and efficient close process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Partners with the Financial Reporting team in the implementation of new accounting guidance and in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statement disclosures.
  • Assists with the design, implementation, and maintenance of the Company’s Sarbanes Oxley compliance efforts, including implementing new internal controls as necessary for related processes and supporting internal control testing by internal and external auditors.
  • Reviews and analyzes data utilized in creating monthly journal entries ensuring all activities are recognized in accordance with GAAP.
  • Defines, documents, and communicates relevant accounting policies and procedures.
  • Hires and staffs team appropriately with recommendations for both short & long-term staffing models.
  • Assists with M&A, acquisition integration, and accounting, as required.
  • Manages the Accounting team following Paycor’s leader guidelines including, but not limited to:
  • Proactively identifies and implements process improvements that will allow for more efficient and effective accounting operations and close processes.
  • Oversees and manages accounting functions, including but not limited to general ledger activity for operating cash, funds held for clients, prepaid assets, fixed assets, intangible assets, accrued liabilities and related accounts as well as intercompany and eliminations.
  • Manages the monthly financial statement close and consolidation process by performing and reviewing journal entries, monthly account analyses and related reconciliations.
  • Serves as an internal technical accounting expert for general accounting matters and collaborates with internal Finance partners and stakeholders across the business, including the leads of our international subsidiaries.
  • Manages all relevant accounting matters by supporting external audits including quarterly reviews and year-end financial audit activities.
  • Leads, motivates, and encourages direct reports to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
  • Regular one-on-ones with direct reports, timely performance reviews and ensures the development of the team through training and providing challenging experiences.

Requirements
  • Ability to work well under pressure in an agile, fast-paced environment
  • 5+ years’ of progressively responsible, relevant experience required, public company or Big 4 experience, with involvement in SEC clients is preferred
  • Highly responsive and reliable
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Superior analytical skills and ability to translate data into actionable insights, recommendations, and decisions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively use accounting knowledge to collaborate, guide and interact professionally with a wide range of personnel at various levels within the organization to drive sound business decisions
  • CPA preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
  • NetSuite experience a plus
  • Strong attention to detail

We also offer competitive compensation determined by each individual's relevant experience, skills, and education. In addition to base pay ($98,370 - 167,946), Paycor Associates are eligible for either a performance-based annual bonus or commission, depending on the position.
