Ambulatory & Urgent Care at Centereach

Catholic Health is opening a new Ambulatory & Urgent Care location in Centereach. The multispecialty practice is located at 2112 Middle Country Road and is set to open in July 2023. This new multispecialty location will offer an array of primary and specialty care, as well as urgent care services for the Centereach community and surrounding areas.

Position Summary:

The mammographic technologist will utilize their knowledge of screening and diagnostic mammography and be able to perform stereotactic biopsies in addition to localizations. He/she must relate well to others and be in compliance with MQSA standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Makes special radiographic examinations requiring special equipment and procedures such as mammographies, needle localizations, and stereotactic biopsies.
• Selects appropriate equipment to use for procedure.
• Employee conducts himself/herself in conformity with the HIPAA Compliance Program and applicable institutional policies and procedures for patient privacy. In addition, employee conducts himself/herself in conformity with the Catholic Health Security policies and procedures.
• Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns, and extraneous radiation.
• Contributes to and consistently applies Catholic Health policies, procedures, and benefits to all customers and/or employees without discrimination.
• Determine appropriateness of examinations and contacts physicians to clarify or modify orders when necessary.
• Determines most suitable anatomical posture and positions and shields patients accordingly.
• Examines requests so that all procedures are correctly performed and is aware of any special instructions and comments.
• Instructs and prepares patients for breast procedures.
• Responsible for all patient data entry.
• Responsible to the safe handling of equipment.
• Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
• Employs correct film labeling and lead markers and evaluates images for proper diagnostic quality.

Position Requirements and Qualifications:

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent and two years of x-ray training in a certified school
• Licensure/Certification: NYS x-ray license, ARRT and mammography registry.

Skills:

• Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of Epic and Magview.
• Excellent time management skills
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Experience:

• At least 2 years mammography experience.
