Positions & Duties

The Salary Range for Maintenance Superintendent is $107,702.40 – $131,102.40.

The actual salary shall be determined by the final candidate’s qualifications and experience. In addition to the starting salary, employees in this classification shall also receive an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation pay.

The Maintenance Superintendent position is located in the Trades Services Section, which is part of the Airport's Facilities and Engineering Division /Maintenance Section. This section provides services related to the repair, maintenance and construction of buildings, roadways and grounds and associated services.

This position is responsible for managing a combination of positions in the Airport including all three shifts for maintenance. This Superintendent position is responsible for the management and coordination between various maintenance sections, other internal divisions, other Airport Departments, tenants, and contractors. The Superintendent position will have a flexible schedule to be determined at a later date but is expected to make themselves available for all Maintenance shifts. Specific job responsibilities include oversight and management of work orders, projects, parts acquisition, expense tracking and various service needs related to the maintenance and operations of the airport’s physical assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise staff, including planning, scheduling, prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff is appropriately trained; and assist in hiring decisions
  • Inspecting jobs, facilities, and equipment, including managing bill-backs, approving completed work and coordinating work orders
  • Prepare and administer budgets, including forecasting expenditures; tracking expenditures; approving purchases, and planning and monitoring contract funds
  • Receive and evaluate work orders and requests; estimate time requirements, costs; clarify work orders; assign tasks; determine necessary actions, and approve work orders
  • Oversee and maintain inventories of parts and supplies to include performing spot checks and ordering parts and supplies
  • Prepare various reports such as activity and status reports, performance targets and benchmarking goals

Qualifications


Education and Experience

Successful completion of high school and Seven years of increasingly responsible experience maintaining public buildings and facilities, including three years of supervision.

Acceptable Substitution

  • A General Education Degree (GED) or California Proficiency Certificate may be substituted for the successful completion of high school.
  • Additional years of college education may be substituted for the experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • There will be no substitute for the three years of supervision.

Required Licensing (such as driver’s license, certifications, etc.)

  • Possession of a valid State of California driver's license may be required for some assignments.
