Position Responsibilities:

  • Interfaces with production management to find the most effective ways to operate equipment using direct partnership with the Director of Operations/AGM
  • Maintains a preventative maintenance program for Distribution Center equipment utilizing manuals as well as PC based tools; Identifies building and physical Distribution Center repair issues
  • Controls energy costs through effective monitoring of machine performance and operation schedules
  • Analyzes cost estimates, helps to source qualified contractors/vendors and prepares and presents recommendations to Facility/Network leadership when changes are required
  • Responsible for ensuring clear communication and timelines for work projects
  • Updates technical publication library (equipment, blueprints, schematics, etc.)
  • Leads the maintenance team in performing diagnostic troubleshooting on all Distribution Center equipment
  • Interfaces with Operations team to allow repairs to be made to minimize impact on production
  • Monitors quality of repairs and ensures that maintenance team consistently provides positive and prompt response to requests from Operations team
  • Direct the hiring, training, and development of the Distribution Center maintenance team
  • Purchases proper spare parts in inventory that will balance tying up capital with minimizing Distribution Center downtime and maintains proper inventory of parts and supplies
  • Drive innovation through the development of best practices as well as identifying industry trends and tools that would contribute to our operational excellence goals
  • Maintains safety programs and responsible for maintaining and auditing facility Emergency Response needs, to include fire and emergency evacuation drills and security of the facility

Required Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents (blueprints, wiring diagrams, manuals, etc.)
  • Ability to interface with vendors and purchase parts in an effective manner, including cost-saving pricing and delivery
  • Knowledge of Dematic conveyor / Sortation systems
  • Knowledge of industrial equipment fundamentals including electrical wiring, electrical components, PLC, pneumonic systems, hydraulics and building maintenance
  • Desire to train as needed
  • Experience responding in a time-sensitive environment with urgency
  • Ability to use basic hand tools properly and safely

Education and Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Minimum of ten years of related experience and/or training. Bachelor's degree preferred with focus on technical areas. Prior Supervisory experience required.

Financial Knowledge

Knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate complex figures. Ability to forecast and prepare budgets.

Other skills and Abilities

Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, intranet/internet. Ability to use work order system. Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
