Machine Operator - Night Shift

The Machine Operator will safely control various machines and equipment involved in production.

• This is a night shift position

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Maintains logs and records of units produced including a record of errors resulting in rejected or discarded pieces.
• Inspects equipment prior to use to ensure proper setup and alignment; performs basic and routine adjustments and maintenance.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Operates production machinery in accordance with vendor specifications and safety requirements. Assigned machines may include roll formers, slitters, shears, benders, press brakes, forklifts, overhead cranes or other assigned equipment.
• Measures finished parts with precision tools, ensuring compliance with function, quality, and cosmetic specifications.
• Must be able to acquire Whirlwind equipment certifications where applicable.
• Produces the required quantity of parts within established specifications and tolerances.
• Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work area.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to interpret and translate engineering designs and documentation.
• Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production equipment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to follow directions and work well in a team.
• Understanding of and the ability to abide by applicable OSHA and environmental regulations.

Education and Experience:

• Computer literate
• Completion of on-the-job training may be substituted for educational requirements.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least one year of related experience required in a manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
• Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping.
• Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced.
