Description:The Montclair is a Personal Care Home in Decatur, Ga, part of the Clairmont Place Community. We are tucked away on 16+ acres of land with a private lake and walking paths, in a park-like setting. We are conveniently located off Clairmont Rd, near Emory and the VA Hospital. The Montclair is owned by the Clairmont Place Community members and run under the direction of a board of resident representatives.
The Montclair offers a continued, higher level of support for our elders who are no longer able to live independently. Our focus and goal is person-centered care with a high level of engagement and a low resident to caregiver ratio, allowing our caregivers to focus and individualize their attention on elders and their care plans. Our management staff has a combined 30+ years of leadership experience. Montclair's team of care partners help residents perform tasks safely, prioritizing autonomy, engagement and independence. We care for the human spirit as well as the body.
The right person for this role will have the ability to focus individual care without sacrificing their vision for task completion for the day, the ability to work with a team to accomplish goals, the ability to communicate with care, consideration and professionalism with both elders, team mates and family members, and the ability to serve as a true partner in caregiving for our residents. You must have experience working with elders and heart for serving this population.
All caregivers must be CNA certified with current certificate. Clairmont Place requires new hires to be vaccinated against Covid - we serve a vulnerable population. New hires must be able to pass a drug and background screen, a physical and have a negative TB test. You must have current CPR certification.
Caregiver duties and responsibilities include:
- Verifying identity of residents receiving medication and record name of drug, dosage, route, and time of administration on electronic MAR
- May record and restock medication inventory
- Participating in an annual proxy caregiver skills competency check which meets the requirements contained in the standardized clinical skills competency checklist used to certify proxy caregivers.
- Remains open to others' ideas and tries new things
- Assists resident in and out of bed and with ambulation
- Responsible for maintaining of electronic medical records, assuring accuracy, completeness and compliance with regulations, certification standards, legal and ethical standards
- Focuses on solving conflict and not blaming
- Provides good body alignment, positioning, and range of motion exercises for non-ambulatory residents
- Provides bed bath, shower or tub bath as appropriate
- Receiving supply of ordered medications and assembling drugs for administration to resident
- Provides appropriate care of skin, hair, nails, mouth and feet
- Assists resident with use of bedpan, urinal, commode and bathroom
- Reporting changes in the residents' condition log and med aide communication log
- Supports the resident, family, and proxy caregiver
- Provides person-centered care to improve the quality of life
- Provides personal care to the resident in a compassionate and understanding manner consistent with the Eden philosophy
- Following state proxy caregiver protocols for the community to maintain compliance
- Monitors and records temperature, pulse, respirations and blood pressure, as directed by the Clinical director.
- Assists with feeding and dressing resident
- Change simple dressings and empty ostomy bags, Colostomy bags and catheter bags
- Listens to others without interrupting and keeps emotions under control
- Maintains the dignity of the resident
- Assists residents during activity programs and mealtimes
- Administering physician ordered medication to resident's and maintaining related medical records under the supervision of the Clinical Director
- Consults and collaborates with the management team and others involved in the resident's care
Requirements:QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED
- Must be willing to complete medication aide proxy caregiver training for residents in our community. Med tech certification background preferred.
- Must successfully clear a background check/ fingerprinting, TB skin test or x-ray, and health screening, drug screening
- Must be fully vaccinated against Covid
- Current CPR certification

- Attention to detail to ensure accuracy
- Demonstrates and knowledgeable of the Six (6) Rights of Medication Pass ("Right" resident, medication, dosage, time, route, right to refuse)
Pay: $18.12 per hour
