ABOUT US

JOB SUMMARY Supports a team of regional logistics specialists and coordinators in their day-to-day operations regarding customs topics with Classification as a focus. This role will align with other departments such as EHS, R&D, procurement, and sales to review and classify Afton Components and finished products.


RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Manage the liaison between regulatory bodies, trade partners and relevant internal departments
  • Review and approve supplier HS classification codes for inbound raw materials
  • Coordinate and document HS classification code assignment and review process for Afton components and finished goods
  • Lead, support and advise during audits, inquiries, and investigations of customs activities, including remedial & corrective activities.
  • Act as single point of contact for global customs inquiries/issues and coordinate specific responses with internal Afton specialists and / or external support resources
  • Maintain good understanding of business impact of HS code selection
  • Customs & Compliance Ambassador for internal and external stake holders
  • Respond effectively to short term issues maintaining customer service standards and reliability
  • Ensure effective use of SAP systems, involvement in SAP initiatives and that staff are properly trained to maximize business benefit and use benefit and use.
  • Work closely and communicate effectively with the business in their regional area to ensure business and service requirements are met.
  • FTA management for North American and Latin America regions
  • Help train the team and map out succession planning for the department
  • Maintain, Implement, and optimize processes, systems, policies, and standards


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE MINIMUMS


  • BS Degree in Chemistry, Chemical or Environmental Engineering
  • Knowledge and understanding of supply chain


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE PREFERRED


  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Experience in customs classification


SKILLS/ABILITIES


  • Organizational skills and is able to prioritize work, develop appropriate timelines and work to deadlines

  • SAP knowledge
