Job Description
John Fraser Restaurants is hiring a Bar Manager to lead the guest experience at The Times Square Edition Lobby Bar. This role is the most diverse in nature as it encompasses both management of a lively bar atmosphere at night as well as a robust casual outlet during the day.
Essential Job Function: The Bar Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the front-of-house operations and employees in accordance with company policies and procedures and works concurrently with the Back of House ensuring a successful operation. Interacts with guests, fellow employees, and supervisors in a polite and courteous manner to ensure gracious hospitality.
Key Responsibilities:
The Bar Manager is expected to be actively involved in the day to day of the operation including presence on the floor during service. Responsible for the daily operations and providing professional leadership and training systems to all FOH staff members. Must be highly involved with service standards and guest experience.
  • Oversees all disciplinary action related to hourly employees, and liaise with your direct supervisor in making personnel decisions in support of JF Restaurants culture and mission statement guidelines
  • Provide attentiveness and excellent service to VIP guests
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings on a daily basis
  • Review schedules and payroll; reviewing time punches and tips sheets thoroughly and in a timely manner
  • Prepare and execute daily pre-shifts to review service points, sales updates, shift changes, upcoming events, menu and other important service points the team needs to be aligned on
  • Help interview, hire, and train new staff members to join the team
  • Manage day to day operations during scheduled shifts that include daily decision making, employee support and guest interaction while upholding standards, food quality and cleanliness
  • Accountable for all aspects of the financial health of the Business Unit
  • Provide attentiveness and excellent service to VIP guests
  • Employee tracking and management
  • Quickly resolve service quality issues and ensure guest satisfaction at all times
  • Maintain operations by preparing policies and standard operating procedures; implementing production, productivity, quality, and guest-service standards; determining and implementing system improvements
  • Advise executive management on any negative developing trends, along with action plans on how to improve
  • Maintain guest satisfaction by monitoring, evaluating, and auditing food, beverage, and service offerings; initiating improvements while building relationships with guests
  • Maintain safe, secure, and healthy environment by establishing, following, and enforcing sanitation standards and procedures; complying with health and legal regulations; and reporting issues to appropriate stakeholders
Requirements:
  • Well versed in Microsoft Office, Excel, and can easily adapt to new technology
  • Open availability
  • Excellent financial acumen
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and electronic, are required
  • Certification in NYC Food Protection License required
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and/or sit for long periods of time and have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Team-orientated and positive attitude
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience working as an Bar Manager or similar capacity, within a high volume upscale, fine dining restaurant or luxury restaurant
