This position is designated as work-from-home.

Synery is hiring for a Linux System Administrator with a DevSecOps mindset to work on an agile team to support and continue development of containerized Atlassian applications and configuration management scripts for various virtual and cloud deployments and support future commercial cloud and data center migrations.

As a Linux System Administrator you will bring experience supporting and deploying containerized applications within a highly secure environment. The project expectation is for a highly secure, reliable, scalable, and maintainable system. There will be autonomy to research, design, implement and launch new tools and services that enable the development team to rapidly deploy new features to Linux PaaS and commercial cloud instances without sacrificing uptime.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other engineers to develop deployment and maintenance automation for existing and new service
  • Monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot problems related to security, networking, storage, and servers
  • Prepare presentations, reports, research, and other project deliverables
  • Assist with application and infrastructure management, inventory, installations, configurations, and connectivity
  • This role requires being comfortable working within agile DevSecOps Scrum and Kanban project

Skills and Experience:

  • Hands on experience with using VMWare Workstation
  • Installing databases like PostgreSQL and MySQL (also Oracle).
  • Able to work at a high level independently.
  • Networking/DNS/Firewalls.
  • Able to efficiently maintain, upgrade, and support Docker images.
  • Fully embrace DevSecOps culture, eliminate barriers and bridge moats.
  • Comfortable with Linux cmd line; yum, rpm, zip, tar, curl, wget.
  • Demonstrates high initiative and ownership of issues.
  • Identify and tactfully communicate the root cause of application and networking issues and work collaboratively with a cross-functional team of engineers to resolve issues related to stability, performance, or vulnerabilities.
  • Able to follow internal procedures and reliably perform real-time ticket documentation.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Security minded.
  • Government or large organization experience.
  • Prioritize work and close out tickets in a timely manner.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work through tough situations and solve challenging problems.
  • Develop and maintain configuration management scripts with Ansible.
  • Deploy and support Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery systems.

Preferred Experience

  • Cloud based services (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure ...)
  • Familiarity with deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting J2EE apps.
  • App monitoring: Tanium, Microsoft Advanced Threat Protection.
  • Jira Service Management and Confluence.

Clearance:

  • Ability to attain Federal Government Position of Trust
  • Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder

To a reduced degree, <30% of the time, candidates may have to stand, walk, lift 0-30 pounds, push or pull objects, climb stairs, bend, squat, reach, drive a car, or work overtime.
