We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team in the role of Invasive Species Librarian. Our organization is committed to advancing research, management, and information sharing in the field of invasive species. The successful candidate will play a vital role in curating and enhancing our web-based resources, while also contributing to the creation of valuable content catering to professionals, students, and the general public.
Role and Responsibilities: You will undertake a diverse range of responsibilities focused on organizing, updating, and disseminating information related to invasive species. Leveraging your expertise in library science and comprehensive knowledge of invasive species, you will ensure the accuracy and relevance of our online content. Your primary duties will encompass:
Conducting thorough research on invasive species information utilizing online resources.
Collaborating closely with the Invasive Species Website Coordinator to maintain and update our website content, ensuring precision and currency.
Assisting in transitioning the current static site to the Drupal content management system.
Crafting and maintaining species profiles in alignment with established format and content standards.
Identifying and implementing technical enhancements to elevate website efficiency and user satisfaction.
Addressing reference inquiries from users, including students, professionals, and the general public, by conducting credible online research on invasive species sources.
Operating both independently and collaboratively to accomplish project objectives.
Qualifications: To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
A Master's degree in Library Science from an accredited institution.
A minimum of 5 years of post-graduate experience in the field.
Extensive experience in researching web-based information and a thorough understanding of invasive species.
Proficiency in editing web content using the Drupal content management system.
Familiarity with library databases like AGRICOLA and the ability to generate preformatted, automated queries.
Proficient technical skills, including familiarity with web-based tools for content enhancement and creation (e.g., RSS feeds).
Excellent customer service aptitude with the ability to handle sensitive and contentious materials.
Strong organizational prowess and keen attention to detail.
Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
Additional Information
This is a full-time position.
The candidate is required to have their own reliable Internet connection.
Completion of security training as mandated for government contractors is obligatory.
