Job Summary
Under the guidance of the General Counsel and other members of the Legal Department, the Legal Assistant will be responsible for managing various legal matters. You will provide essential support to our mission by performing a wide range of legal tasks, such as maintaining legal materials, preparing meeting minutes, and handling public record requests. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to our organization.
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive legal support to the General Counsel and other members of the legal department, including calendar management, scheduling meetings, arranging travel, conducting research, and organizing materials.
Maintain accurate information management systems for administrative and legal matters, both in electronic and hard copy formats.
Assist in the preparation and facilitation of public meetings, including drafting meeting minutes.
Respond to general inquiries from internal and external stakeholders, ensuring exceptional customer service.
Manage public records requests by reviewing and gathering responsive documents, maintaining electronic files, and ensuring timely responses.
Maintain litigation files and collaborate with the Office of the Attorney General on litigation matters.
Support the legal department in procurement processes and maintain relationships with external vendors.
Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills:
Familiarity with open meeting and public records laws.
Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and complete multiple projects within given deadlines.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, enabling effective interaction with various stakeholders.
A proactive approach to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment.
Ability to work independently and adapt to an evolving work environment.
Sound judgment in decision-making and problem-solving.
Proficiency in computers and MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), with a willingness to learn specialized software.
Attention to detail and appreciation for accuracy.
Willingness to perform administrative and clerical duties as necessary.
Ability to work remotely, in our Worcester headquarters, and occasionally travel to our satellite office in Boston.
Education And Experience
Paralegal Certificate, Associates Degree, or equivalent experience. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a law firm, corporation, or government agency.
Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000
