Job Description

Job Posting Title: Data Collection Staff | Legal Services Assistant Job Location: Indianapolis, IN Duration: 24 Months Contract


Essential Job Responsibilities:

Client is looking for a bright, self-motivated individual to collect court documents, analyze and manage registration data, create reviews, and assist with administrative responsibilities:

• Collect court and registration documentation from local, state, and federal jurisdictions

• Review and analyze legal documents, criminal codes, court orders, etc.

• Update Department, state, and federal tracking tools along with the Indiana Sex and Violent Offender Registry

• Create and complete reviews so that Sex and Violent Offender Coordinators can make appropriate registration determinations.

• Track data and analyze data on registration efforts

• Work with staff in the division to maintain records

• Manage incoming calls and emails to ensure that the appropriate staff member is notified to ensure accurate and timely responses

• Assist with tracking local law enforcement needs and scheduling

• Manage local review request activities and tracking documentation

• Attend and present at sex and violent offender-related meetings, trainings, and presentations


Preferred Experience and Requirements

6 years of college education or related experience

• Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret criminal and administrative code, policies and procedures, legal documents, etc.

• Legal research experience (e.g., Lexis Nexis, Westlaw, INcite, Doxpop)

• Familiarity with criminal history records (e.g., Triple Is, affidavits of probable cause, conviction/sentencing documentation, pre-sentence investigation reports, court orders)

• Research experience

• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills

• Strong organizational and time management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and work under time constraints

• Ability to maintain discretion when working with confidential information

• Ability to establish cooperative working relationships

• Experience with Microsoft Office applications
