Job Description
Are you a detail-oriented experienced administrative professional looking for an opportunity with an organization that is making a difference in your community? At the Vancouver Housing Authority (VHA) we work closely with local governments and other community partners throughout Clark County to address issues of affordable housing and homelessness and help families break the cycle of poverty. We provide affordable housing and housing assistance to low-income residents in Clark County. The Leasing Assistant welcomes residents and visitors to the Caples Terrace and Skyline communities; answers multiple line phone system; answers questions; assists with accessing online applications; provides information materials; and/or directs visitors to appropriate staff member.

Your skills and experience will support our mission as you:
  • Provide information and applications related to low-cost housing and assisting applicants with filling out forms, looking up information, accessing online applications, accessing the Applicant Portal, and other related duties.
  • Answer telephone calls for the agency on a multi-line system by directing calls, taking messages, and making appropriate referrals.
  • Create, mail, and process continued interest waitlist letters for waitlists managed by the property and follow up with applicants.
  • Scan and index documents as directed, photocopy materials as needed, provide requested forms to visitors, provide forms left by staff for clients and documents needing signatures, and notarize documents as needed.
  • Assists with scheduling intake and recertification appointments with Property Manager and/or Property Assistant.
  • Runs background checks and income verifications on new applicants and assists with issuance and tracking of parking and pet permits, garden space assignments, lockouts.
  • Receives completed applications, fees, keys and rent payments per established protocol.
  • Processes incoming and outgoing mail and faxes each day by sorting and directing to appropriate staff.
  • Draft and distribute a variety of correspondence including flyers, upcoming events and meetings, lease renewal letters and notices to tenants.
  • Greet visitors independently and courteously respond to inquiries, assesses needs and either provides information or directs to the appropriate staff member.
Pay and Benefits
  • Benefits package also includes 9.39% paid into WA PERS by employer, 12 company paid holidays, and generous paid time off accrual.
  • Medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance.
  • The starting salary range is $2,934 - $3,374 per month based on experience. The full salary range is $2,934 - $4,074 per month.
  • Full-time, non-exempt, union-represented position working 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
  • Meaningful work that addresses affordable housing and homelessness in our community.

Requirements

  • Experience running a multi-line phone system.
  • Demonstrated computer skills necessary to effectively complete duties.
  • High school diploma required plus some higher level education or vocational training specializing in office skills plus at least 1 year of directly related experience or equivalent required.
