Job Description
Overview:

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Assign translators to assessments, documents, and forms that require translation from English into the requested language or from the source language to English.
  • Orient and train recently recruited and onboarded translators to ORR policy, plain writing, as stipulated by the Plain Writing Act of 2010 (Pub.L. 111-274), and 508 compliance.
  • Request feedback from ORR and its care provider designees on the quality of translation
  • Manage a team of translators to translate a wide range of policy and procedure documents and assessment forms to be completed by ORR-eligible populations and the ORR staff and designees serving them.
  • Ensure that translated items are 508 compliant and have been reviewed by a third-party, quality control mechanism.
  • Assist in recruiting culturally competent and linguistically qualified translators, particularly for priority languages as determined by ORR.
Basic Qualifications:
  • A bachelor’s degree in either linguistics or another language-related degree
  • Four years of experience in language and cultural services support or other relevant work
