About This Job
Air and Space Force Solutions, a business unit within BAE Systems, has an opening for a Lead Jira Administrator at our Hill Air Force Base, Utah location. The selected candidate will join our Information Services team and have an important role in supporting our mission of Strategic Deterrence through continual improvement and innovation. The position will have the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Work with internal and external organizations to support various customer user-level requirements, including resolving elevated end-user support requests, and researching and deploying advanced technologies
  • Document standards, guidelines and standard operating procedures for admins/users of the system
  • Monitor application status; support application event triage, monitoring, tracking, correlation and event characterization and escalation
  • Plan, evaluate, deploy, operate and maintain tools to suit the expanding user base
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Provide technical assistance, training and system documentation for users to promote efficient operation of applications
  • Recommend and set up Atlassian plugins
  • Business process analysis and system requirements development
  • Work with vendors as needed for event resolution, and follow up with customers to ensure issues have been resolved
  • Investigate, troubleshoot and fix issues related to development, applications, application servers
  • Adhere to industry best practices, processes, standards, and metrics
  • Recommend and design standard and custom Jira workflows
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with day-to-day Jira administration functionality
  • Ability to construct custom dashboards using various filter types in Jira
  • Develop and maintain project plans and action item lists, and conduct regular customer status meetings to keep projects and actions on track
  • Implement approved system security policies to include the configuration of user access and permission across a variety of systems
  • Install, manage and support various development tools, testing tools and monitoring tools
  • Provide training to technical and non-technical teams/users on Atlassian tools
  • Collaborate with quality assurance, technical teams, and management to implement systems features that enable Agile software delivery
  • Demonstrated experience with Jira filters, reporting, dashboards, workflows, fields, and Jira administration
  • Install, configure and maintain Atlassian Jira and Confluence
  • Set access permissions for Jira projects spaces
  • Ad-Hoc report creation and distribution
  • Migrate incidents and workflows from multiple existing tools to Jira

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Required degree and years of relevant experience for this position are as follows:

  • High School Diploma with 11+ years of relevant experience
  • BS/BA Degree 7+ years of relevant experience
  • MS/MA Degree 5+ years of relevant experience
The successful applicant will be able to work independently, demonstrate strong initiative, and possess the ability to organize daily tasks with minimal supervision while demonstrating the following:
  • Manage multiple responsibilities with tight deadlines
  • Experience with administering and developing software team solutions on Atlassian tools, especially Jira and Confluence
  • Must have experience with configuring plugins such as Bit Bucket, Email issue, HTML for Confluence, Jira Misc Workflow Extensions, ScriptRunner for Jira
  • Perform basic Linux and Windows Server administration tasks
  • Ability to write custom JQL (Jira Query Language)
  • Experience with troubleshooting, proactively identifying issues and driving them to resolution
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written) as well as the ability to interact with team members, various levels of management, and internal clients with assorted levels of computer experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience in writing scripts
  • Ability to work in multi-vendor environment supporting large number of users

  • MUST have experience with enterprise installation on an AWS platform
  • A fast learner with a demonstrated ability to quickly learn technologies and understand unique system requirements

  • Prior experience training, coaching and working directly with end users
  • DoD 8570 - IAT Level I certification

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $89280 - $151740

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
