Responsibilities: 

  • Executes tactical action plans as set by department goals and objectives
  • A technical leader will be capable of managing outside consultants in developing solutions and coordinate project design and milestone reviews
  • Must have Domain Experience: IT-OT convergence, Industrial Protocols, Automation and Process Control, Cybersecurity, IT Architecture, and software cloud architecture, software delivery and support management
  • Understands and promotes HES's quality directives
  • Possesses thorough understanding of the supported PSL's technology and broad understanding of the associated development tools
  • This person will have responsibility for identifying and filling technological and functional requirements
  • Manage the development team to ensure delivery
  • Conducts goal setting and performance appraisals of personnel
  • Though this individual's focus will be technical leadership, they will perform development tasks maintaining their development expertise
  • Provides technical guidance to the group
  • Incorporates reliability analysis and promotes optimum use of development tools and standards during the design process
  • Utilitizes project management skills and tracking tools in the organization and execution of project assignments
  • Leads a cross functional, cross department or cross Center team in executing various corporate projects and/or initiatives (e.g., standards, best practices, lessons learned), or a standing sub-PSL design team
  • Under broad direction, supervises engineers and/or other technical staff members

Additional Skills: 

  • Develops informed perspective on market, competitor, technology direction and can present the same to management
  • Helps define and refine general program strategy
  • Manages contractors, individually and in bulk, their costs, contracts and deliverables
  • Hold reviews of directions and accomplishments with management and executives
  • Liaise with customers and stakeholders to ensure highest levels of satisfaction
  • Recommends choices for priorities of key elements of development
  • Liaise with partners and suppliers to maximize mutual benefits
  • Job role has budgetary type accountabilities or directly impacts a revenue center's viability or its quality of service via personal contributions

Education Requirements: 

  • Skills are typically acquired through an undergraduate degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Material Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent degree, and minimum of 8 years related experience or through 12 years of related experience
  • Incumbents at this level will usually hold a certification as a Licensed/Chartered Professional Engineer
  • Candidates having qualification that exceed the minimum job requirements will receive consideration for higher-level roles given (1) their experience, (2) additional job requirements, and/or (3) business needs. Depending on education, experience and skill level, a variety of job opportunities might be available from Technical Professional Leader, Senior Technical Professional Leader up to Technical Professional Manager
