The Lead Analyst, Global Data Governance (GDG), will support a broad array of business and technology stakeholders by implementing and leading the LCE/IHI Global Data Governance policies, standards, and processes. The company is clear and committed to the “what” – enabling data driven decisioning, as well as the “why” - to make a great company even better - and is looking to the Lead Analyst, Global Data Governance will drive the GDG program, along with building out the Data Governance Tool to support and maintain the “how.” This role reports to Manager, Global Data Governance, who is a member of the leadership team of the Global Data and Analytics COE.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leads discovery, documents, and maintains data across the enterprise through an analytical approach, identifying the most valuable data and its current state in a variety of systems and technologies
- Drives, supports, maintains, and enforces LCE/IHI data domains, hierarchies, data models, and Data Governance tooling as LCE/IHI’s business needs and technical environment changes
- Keeps current around developments and trends in Global Data Governance and Master Data Management, with a focus on practices that increase business engagement and knowledge growth
- Identifies, highlights, prioritizes, tracks, and drives the resolution of deviations and exceptions to policies and standards
- Leads in the implementation and maintenance of LCE/IHI’s Data Catalog, Data Glossary, Data Lineage, and Data Quality tools, structures, standards, change management procedures, and documentation, resulting in recognized super user within this ecosystem
- Partners with Data Owners, Data Stewards, and Data Custodians across the company to enable non-data native coworkers to play their role in trustworthy data
- Implements and maintains policies, standards, and procedures, for the uniformity, accuracy, and semantic consistency of LCE/IHI’s most important data assets to ensure executives, leaders, and coworkers alike can trust our data
- Acts as the GDG program lead for large programs, i.e., legacy to cloud / SaaS deployments, ensure Data Governance principles are built in from the start
- Partners actively with critical areas of the business - known and specific focus - legal (data privacy) and compliance (data security)
- Drives, facilities, and supports all involved with data intense work - from engineers, developers, and analysts to end users - with knowledge of policies, effective practices, and tooling
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- 2 + years’ experience in the implementation and maintenance of data management tools and methodologies: Data Catalog, Data Glossary, Data Lineage, Data Quality, etc.
- Technical knowledge and experience in some area of data management - quality, governance, extraction, transformation, etc.
- Ability to understand strategic direction and to drive tactical actions to support the strategy Knowledge of how data is managed in large companies and knowledge of key concepts: Data Governance; Master Data Management; Data Quality; Data Analytics; Business Intelligence; etc.
- Documents, explains, and presents processes, rules, guidelines, etc. to stakeholders for the purpose of increasing compliance
- Bachelor's Degree in business, technology, engineering, or a related field
- Knowledge of common data consistency issues as experienced by technical and business users, and the ability to conduct root cause analyses
- Knowledge of common data consistency issues as experienced by both technical and business users, and the ability to explain the impact of those issues to senior leaders
- 3 + years’ experience related to roles as a Data Custodian and/or Data Steward
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Hands-on experience in running cross functional processes, ideally around an area of data governance and data management
- Comfort approaching coworkers across organizations and different levels
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Self-motivated and able to handle tasks with very minimal supervision
- Ability to write various documents, such as functional requirements and data mapping
- Experience with data governance management tools is valuable
- Ability to deliver a high level of customer service
- Strong analytical and time management skills
- Understand principles of large-scale IT environments
- Knowledge of Business Intelligence concepts and tools
- Experience creating Structured Query Language (SQL) queries
Working Conditions:
- Works in a normal office environment where there is no physical discomfort due to temperature, noise, dust, and the like.
- Requires extended periods of time sitting and talking on the phone.
- This position may require minimal travel to vendor locations, assessment at stores and Ilitch Companies facilities, data centers, or seminars/networking.
