Duties
- Perform heavy physical labor requiring the frequent lifting and carrying of items and furniture weighing 80 to 100 pounds or more.
- Performs general maintenance of NAF facilities requiring use of heavy powered equipment and heavy tools.
- Operate heavy powered equipment performing tasks that require prior work experience and training.
- Breaks up concrete, mixes and pours concrete and asphalt. Resets nails, replaces hardware, relocate playgrounds, flowerbeds and portable structures.
- Advises facility director of potential safety hazards and identifies repairs required.

- Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
- Applicant must be able to frequently lift and carry very heavy objects weighing in excess of 50 pounds.
- Satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2.
- Incumbent may also be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally controlled facilities.
- Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
- An employer referred pre-employment physical examination is required.
Qualifications
- Knowledge, and skill in the operation, control, and cleaning of heavy power equipment (e.g., lawn mowers with one or more cutting decks, chain saws, jackhammers, etc.).
- Ability to work under general supervision.
- Ability to follow oral or written instructions to complete assigned tasks.
- Knowledge on how to work safely with heavy tools (axes, picks, tampers, chain saws, etc.).
- Physically able to perform work where you are required to stand, walk, bend and kneel for lengthy periods of time.
- Knowledge on how to maintain and perform routine maintenance (e.g. cleaning lawn mowers, oiling parts on power equipment etc.)
- Six (6) months of labor experience (e.g., ground maintenance, digging ditches and trenches, cutting trees using axes or chain saws, operating tillers to prepare lawns for sod, washing buildings with high pressure sprayers, etc.).
- Ability to operate heavy powered mowers on grades or push wheelbarrow loads of cement.
