Job Description

Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP is actively recruiting an associate with at least three years of experience to join the Immigration and Global Mobility team within the Labor and Employment group in our Denver or Minneapolis offices.


Faegre Drinker’s diverse 35-member team of immigration and global mobility professionals (based in offices across the U.S. and in China and the UK) blends creativity and business pragmatism to manage large portfolios of immigration and visa matters. With efficient case management, process improvement principles and 24/7 web-based technology, we assist industry-leading companies and organizations with the full range of business and work-related U.S. work visa petitions, I-9 employer compliance, international visas and work permits, and international employee transfers. We take a hands-on approach to complex case issues and collaborate across teams to provide a satisfying client experience. Our team of highly experienced attorneys are supported by a large team of immigration paralegals and administrative/operations professionals.
Successful candidates will have experience as a business immigration attorney and a strong commitment to client service and teamwork. Additionally, demonstrated expertise with permanent residence cases, including PERM, is required, as well as the full range of NIV and IV petitions. Experience working with web-based case management systems, delegating to paralegals and legal assistants, and working effectively with geographically dispersed teams is a plus. Candidates will have strong academic credentials, writing skills, attention to detail, and professional recommendations where appropriate.
As an Associate within the Immigration and Global Mobility team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing your own caseload of clients and projects
  • Participating in marketing activities including delivering webinars/seminars, training workshops, pitches etc.
  • Hands-on, quality work on all types of nonimmigrant and immigrant petitions, including PERM, O-1, EB-1 extraordinary ability and outstanding researcher preparation
  • Staying current with U.S. immigration knowledge and relevant legislation and have a good general knowledge of current global immigration issues and trends
  • Working closely with attorneys in other practice groups across the firm to manage incoming client questions related to U.S. immigration
  • Supporting more senior attorneys in drafting documents and filing applications in support of larger immigration clients
  • Leveraging an understanding of many nonimmigrant visa types and permanent residence strategies to support client goals in recruiting and managing a diverse workforce
  • Maintaining and developing a portfolio of clients, ensuring regular contact with key contacts, managing a variety of business immigration applications, including advice and strategies on U.S. immigration matters
  • Delegating drafting of documents to paralegals and overseeing legal assistants in corresponding with clients, sending petition documents to the appropriate government agencies, and managing incoming receipts and approval notices.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent writing, organizational, and research skills are required
  • Qualified candidates must be and remain licensed to practice law and in good standing in the state where they practice
  • 1-3 years of experience with PERM applications, I-140 petitions, I-485 applications, and O-1, H-1B, L-1B/A, TN, and E visas
  • Demonstrated ability/experience in delegating to paralegals, legal assistants, junior attorneys


The salary range for this position in our Denver office is $215,000 - $255,000.


Actual salary will vary and may be above or below the range based on relevant skills, training, experience and other job-related factors, consistent with applicable law. The range listed is just one component of Faegre Drinker's total compensation and benefits package for associates, which includes productivity and discretionary bonuses; life, health, accident and disability insurance; and a 401(k) plan.
