Job Description
As a member of the Laboratory Team, and under the direction of the Laboratory Manager, safely perform routine and special analyses, record and report results of analyses in a timely manner. A large part of the work load is in the analysis of Evonik Active Oxygens, LLC Electronics Products. This analysis will include using an ICP MS, Ion Chromatography and particle measurement instruments. The technician will perform instrumentation maintenance, troubleshooting and training of other technicians.

Responsibilities
Loss Prevention
  • Work safely and adhere to all laboratory and plant safety procedures. Perform assigned duties as a member of the Emergency Control Organization.
Laboratory Analysis/Quality Assurance
  • Train other technicians
  • Capable of performing basic maintenance on equipment, identify causes of instrument failure and follow them to corrective actions
  • Maintain work area and storage areas in a clean, orderly fashion.
  • Transmit sample data to proper authority as needed.
  • Perform special analyses as directed by the Laboratory Group Leader.
  • Prepare and standardize all routinely used laboratory solutions.
  • Maintain reagent stock to operate shift lab, and maintain all equipment as needed.
  • Calibrate measuring instruments using standard
  • Analyze and properly record data on all control, dilution, and shipment samples submitted to the Laboratory.
Become knowledgeable on all analytical techniques presently employed at Bayport.
Use innovative/creative approach to assist in problem solving.
Become a key resource in the development of his/her colleagues via transfer of knowledge
Environment
  • Administrative office building.
  • Plant: exposure to chemicals, raw materials, and finished products necessary in the manufacture of H2O2. Exposure to the elements (rain, sun, humidity, etc.). Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) worn as directed.
  • Off-Site: exposure to CIMA fire emergencies. Stressful and physically demanding.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 1 year experience as a Laboratory Technician
  • Four-year College diploma in Chemistry or Biology or related fields.
