Job Description
Overview:

LA JOLLA, CA (LOCAL CANDIDATES PREFERED) - Family in La Jolla, with a seven-year-old and a three-year-old, is looking for a FULL-TIME LONG-TERM LIVE-OUT TRAVEL NANNY who is very honest, calm, kind, smart, easy-going, organized, quick, and loves children. The family has 2 girls; ages 3 and 7.5 years old. Candidates must like to travel and be ready for adventure to help a very hands-on mother. The nanny must be available and willing to work long hours, weekends, and holidays (based on the needs of the family). Traveling with the family is a requirement as well.

The household is fully staffed with 2 housekeepers, a chef, and 2 assistants. This nanny will need to be autonomous when needed, but able to work as a team with the household. The family has a cat in the home, no pet allergies.

Caring for Children Duties:
  • Assisting with homework and school projects
  • Occasionally bathe, put to bed, serve lunch or dinner and assist with meal time
  • Maintain the stroller, diaper bag, and car so they are always ready to go; replenish supplies: diapers, wet wipes, dry wipes, cream, bottles, change of clothes, etc.
  • Every time the stroller and diaper bag are used, the bag or stroller needs to be emptied, washed and re-stocked.
  • Prepare snacks for the children
  • See that the children’s supplies are stocked in each area; notify personal assistant to order if supplies are low
  • Prepare after-school activity items in bag the night before
  • Prepare lunch box for school
  • Transporting the children to and from school and other activities

Organizational Duties:
  • Organize the art station: writing the dates, titles, name on each piece of art and file them; organize the art.
  • Organize the closets, cabinets and bookshelves in children’s bedrooms (take out the\small clothes, replace with appropriate sizes, rotate the toys out that are classified as too young)
  • Keep track of what the children need and communicate with personal assistant to order what’s needed
  • Organize mom’s supplements and communicate with personal assistant to order what’s needed

Household Duties:
  • Laundry for children: wash, fold, iron and put away the clothes
  • Deep clean the children’s toys twice a week
  • Support other household staff and perform light housekeeping duties as needed
  • Organize the toys and books daily
when not tending to the children’s needs
  • Occasionally serve the family lunch & dinner

Travel Related Duties:
  • Pack suitcases for the children (must be very organized)
  • Make lists of what to bring for the children
  • At destination and upon return home - Unpack suitcases for the kids: empty the suitcase, wash all the toys, books before putting away. Wash the clothes and clean the suitcases (interior and exterior).

Travel Needs:
Travel (domestic and international) with the family is required. Travel dates include but are not limited to:
  • Destination vacations are TBD
  • April for 10 days: Montreal, Canada
  • October for one week: Montreal, Canada
  • February for 10 days: Utah
  • Mid-June to End-August: Montreal, Canada
  • Mid-December to Early-January: Montreal, Canada

Hourly rate, benefits and typical schedule:
  • Thursday – Monday work hours are 12:00 pm to approx. 9:00 pm (this is subject to change)
  • Flexible schedule but guaranteed 40 hours a week in La Jolla and 50 hours per week in Montreal; possibly more hours during other travel
  • Days off are Tuesday and Wednesday (this is subject to change)
  • Weekend and holiday availability is a must
  • Overnights at La Jolla house will occasionally be required and will be paid $135 per night for sleeping at the house (in addition to regular hourly wage for actual working hours.)
  • Benefits include paid time off, optional health insurance and 401K
  • Hourly Rate: $30-$35 commensurate based on experience

Family prefers a fully vaccinated candidate; Covid + Booster. Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record and a valid passport. Bilingual is a plus.

Qualifications:
BA/BS college degree | AA in related field of study

CPR/First Aid Certification (renew as needed)

Ability to make a one-year commitment unless applying for a temporary position

A passion for working with children

Two+ years childcare experience

Excellent work and personal references

U.S. driver's license (this does not apply to NYC residents)

Complete Stop the Silence Training upon Membership
Fluent in English/Bilingual a plus

Competent swimmer

Non-smoker

Willing to go through extensive Background Check

Must be Live-Scanned and registered with Trustline if CA resident

Willingness to show proof of immunizations

No-cell phone driving signed guarantee

Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
