- Climate, Community & Biodiversity (CCB) Standards-- to identify projects that simultaneously address climate change, support local communities and smallholders, and conserve biodiversity.
- Plastic Waste Reduction Program-- to enable robust impact assessment of new or scaled-up waste recovery and recycling projects around the globe.
- Sustainable Development Verified Impact Standard (SD VISta)-- a flexible framework for assessing and reporting on the sustainable development benefits of project-based activities.
- Verified Carbon Standard (VCS)-- the world’s leading carbon crediting program, with more than 1600 registered projects in 80 countries, and accounting for two-thirds of all voluntary carbon market transaction volume.
With the rapid growth in carbon markets driving a new wave of innovative new approaches, Verra is seeking a Junior Staff Accountant to process semi-monthly payroll, review contracts, and enter purchase orders.
A day with Verra’s collaborative Finance team might include…
- Preparing purchase orders
- Responding to staff inquiries by email
- Processing payroll
- Reviewing consultant contracts
- Collaborating closely with the Grants and Payroll Manager to support the organization's financial needs
Specific functions you will be responsible for…
- Providing audit support for annual and grant-specific audits
- Review timesheets and assist with employee leave questions
- Collaborate with department admins to manage consultant budgets
- Managing contract process in Suite CRM
- Reviewing consultant contracts
- Additional tasks as needed
- Creating purchase orders in Unanet for consultants
- Complete payroll state tax registrations
- Set up U.S. and global new hires in Unanet
- Download and review the payroll journal and other reports generated in Paychex for accuracy
- Download and review Paychex quarterly reports
- Prepare various payroll reports
- Prepare monthly purchase order report
- Processing any payroll changes necessary each pay period and set up new U.S. hires in Paychex
- Train new hires on Unanet timekeeping
- Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations, and stay current on changes.
- Managing the full cycle of payroll processing semi-monthly in Paychex
You bring with you…
- At least 3 years of experience in multi-state payroll, purchasing, and contract management
- Ability to work in a self-directed manner and takes pride in their work
- Experience with Unanet or similar accounting software
- Solid communication skills, both written and verbal, with proficiency in English
- An associate or bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field or relevant work experience
- Intermediate Excel skills
- Experience using Suite CRM preferred
- Strong time management, attention to detail, accuracy, analytical and interpersonal skills
- Experience handling confidential and sensitive information
- Experience using Paychex or similar payroll service

Compensation at Verra
To help us attract and retain top talent, Verra pays employees competitively to the market. In return, we expect each employee to, at a minimum:

For this position, the salary range is USD $58,200 - $65,391, depending on experience.
We will recognize employees who go beyond expected performance with salary increases and/or promotions, but the bar for earning those rewards is high.
Salary is one component of Verra’s total compensation package, which also includes:
- Health, vision and dental care, and life insurance;
- Verra contributions to each employee’s retirement plan;
- Verra contributions as required by national labor laws in countries where staff are located;
- Paid Time Off (PTO), comprising 22-30 days plus ten floating holidays, sabbatical after five years of service, and other leave allowances; and
