This is a hybrid role, based in G-Research’s office in Dallas.
G-Research is Europe’s leading quantitative finance research firm. We hire the brightest minds in the world to tackle some of the biggest questions in finance. We pair this expertise with machine learning, big data, and some of the most advanced technology available to predict movements in financial markets.
Opened in 2022, the Dallas office is a key infrastructure hub where we work on the latest technologies in a cutting-edge environment.
The role
At G-Research, we have a strong Infrastructure as Code philosophy. We are committed to introducing the next generation of applications and distributed platforms to the business.
The Network and Security Operations team is responsible for G-Research’s global network and its infrastructure security. The team’s remit includes office, datacentre, and colocation sites, where it has a major influence on the optimisation of company performance.
In addition to the team’s primary focus on monitoring and support tasks, it plays a critical role in high-profile company projects, with team members often responsible for delivering technical designs, which have been developed by the Network Engineering team, across the estate.
As a Network Operations Engineer, you will be involved in day-to-day network and security infrastructure support and troubleshooting, covering the following areas:
- Completing delivery tasks, such as hardware refresh work and expansion and upgrade projects
- Monitoring the health of the network and security infrastructure using a variety of monitoring and analysis tools
- Using Ansible and YAML files to update and push changes to the network
- Completing BAU tickets for various technologies, such as Palo Alto, Fortinet, F5, Checkpoint, BlueCoat, Cisco and Arista
- Investigating device hardware and software problems, and collaborating with manufacturer support teams to resolve issues
- Testing and troubleshooting network connectivity with third parties
- Performing firewall and proxy policy changes
As well as working closely with the wider Network Engineering and Network Security Engineering team, the role requires close interaction with Infrastructure, Datacentre and other Operations teams, resulting in broad exposure to a variety of enterprise products and technologies.
Who are we looking for?
We’re looking for a Network Operations Engineer with a good understanding of enterprise network technologies and protocols.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- Experience working in a network team or network operations centre, providing first line support and general network monitoring and management
- Passion and enthusiasm to help the team in continuing to meet the expected high standards of performance
- Network automation and scripting skills at a basic level; the team uses Ansible extensively
- A CCNA qualification to demonstrate knowledge of basic switching and routing concepts, and familiarity with configuring and operating switches and routers
- Experience with project work, such as hardware refresh or installation of approved designs
- Some progression along the CCNP track is also desirable but not essential
- Knowledge of security infrastructure and concepts. Any previous experience with configuring, managing or monitoring security infrastructure is highly desired and can be shown with qualifications such as Palo Alto PCNSA, Fortinet NSE, Checkpoint CCSA, F5 and Bluecoat certifications
Why should you apply?
- Generous 401(k) plan
- Informal dress code and excellent work/life balance
- On-site gym and car park
- Market-leading compensation plus annual discretionary bonus
- 12-weeks’ fully paid parental leave
- Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance
- Medical and Prescription, Dental, and Vision insurance
- Generous relocation allowance and support
- Employee Assistance and Wellness programs
- Excellent paid time off allowance
- Great selection of office snacks, and hot and cold drinks
- Sick days, military leave, and family and medical leave
G-Research is committed to cultivating and preserving an inclusive work environment. We are an ideas-driven business and we place great value on diversity of experience and opinions.
We want to ensure that applicants receive a recruitment experience that enables them to perform at their best. If you have a disability or special need that requires accommodation please let us know in the relevant section.
