Job Description
Janitors and Cleaners, Except Maids and Housekeeping Cleaners
Keep buildings in clean and orderly condition. Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing trash. Duties may include performing routine maintenance activities, notifying management of need for repairs, and cleaning debris from sidewalk.
Tasks
  • Clean and sweep parking lot.
  • Gather and empty trash.
  • Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
  • Steam-clean or shampoo carpets.
  • Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
  • Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
  • Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
  • Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks.
  • Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
  • Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
  • Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.
  • Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
  • Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.
  • Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs.
  • Service, clean, and supply restrooms.

Limpiar alfombras con vapor o con champú.
Estripiar, encerar, y pulir los pisos.
Limpiar y barrer el estacionamiento.
Siga los procedimientos para el uso de limpiadores químicos y equipo eléctrico, con el fin de evitar daños a plantas y accesorios.
Vigilar la seguridad del edificio realizando tareas tales como cerrar con llave las puertas después de horas de funcionamiento y revisando el uso de aparatos eléctricos que no se conviertan en un peligro.
Mover muebles pesados, equipos y productos de limpieza, ya sea manualmente o mediante el uso de carros de mano.
