Job Description
ENERAL PURPOSE
The IT Systems Support Analyst performs a full range of system implementation and maintenance activities related to the School Department’s network and telecommunication systems and provides technical advice and support to users on all School-managed technology resources.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
▪ Under general direction, performs the full range of system implementation and maintenance activities related to the School’s network and telecommunication systems.
▪ Performs daily operational duties, such as system backups, upgrades, etc.
▪ Provides technical advice and support to users on all School-managed technology resources.
▪ Evaluates, installs, upgrades and maintains Windows operating system, application software (MS Office) and other software such as Email, Antivirus, etc. for School PCs and all related equipment.
▪ Participates in evaluating and recommending new technologies that enhance and support the School’s technology plan.
▪ Provides technical support to School users in the appropriate use of technology, particularly as it relates to established School IT policies and government regulatory compliance.
▪ Works with vendors to resolve hardware and software maintenance and warranty related issues.
▪ May be required, on a scheduled basis, to provide 24x7 remote support.
▪ The ability to exercise good judgment and make sound decisions independently is essential.
▪ The ability to properly safeguard confidential and sensitive information is required.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and Experience:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information systems and five or more years of experience in an IT support role preferably in a municipal or school environment, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Vendor certifications (e.g. MCP, MCSE (Microsoft), Google, CNA, CCIE (Cisco), A+, etc.) are a plus.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
▪ Highly organized and energetic; able to effectively execute multiple projects simultaneously.
▪ Excellent communicator; able to clearly articulate and deliver message in verbal and written form.
▪ Well-versed in a wide spectrum of information technologies; keen insight to current IT trends, advancements and their effective use in municipal environments.
▪ Works well under pressure; rejects the stopgap fix and approaches problems with lasting, cost-effective strategies.
▪ Solid understanding of PC architecture and the Microsoft Windows OS. Ability to isolate and repair basic- and intermediate-level PC hardware and operating system problems.
▪ Excellent networked PC and peripheral troubleshooting skills.
▪ Intermediate knowledge of Google Docs and Microsoft Office. Ability to instruct users in the use of most common features.
▪ Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server network architecture and related services (e.g. DNS, DHCP, Identity, Print, Security, Time and Terminal Services, etc.).
▪ Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory administration and related tools .
▪ Demonstrated understanding of switched IP networks and core services
▪ Audio/Visual (HDMI, wireless sound systems, sound boards, lighting control).

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
▪ Background with school applications (e.g. PowerSchool, SchoolMessenger, Adobe, public safety RMS, GIS).
▪ Advanced knowledge of G Suite (Google), Adobe, Visio, ProMicrosoft Exchange Server 2003/2007, Symantec/Veritas Backup Exec, Symantec Anti-Virus, Microsoft Server Update Services.
▪ WAN/LAN technology: HP/Aruba, Cisco switching platform and IOS, outside plant fiber and structured copper cable systems.
▪ Network Management: Design, Disaster Recovery, Advanced Routing, advanced knowledge of all OSI layers and relevant troubleshooting skills.
▪ RDBMS: Microsoft SQL Server.
▪ Development: Crystal Reports, Access, VB.Net, web skills.
▪ Telecommunications: Carrier services (T-1, PRI, etc.), Cisco IPT platform.
▪ Security: Firewalls and related services, IPSec, SSL, VPNs, PGP, WLAN encryption, PKI.
▪ Wireless: 802.1x (Wi-Fi and WiMax), Bluetooth, GSM, CDMA, mobility solutions.
▪ OS: Linux, Mac OS, Chrome OSWindows CE.

● Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate computers and various pieces of office equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
