Full-time, Exempt, Work Schedule based on 244 days/year

Index: 01/M/02 ($31.33/hour) to 01/M/04 ($33.89/hour) depending on verified experience

For positions that qualify, the District offers a benefit package that is valued at more than $10,000 annually. Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance and Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERSI) and are provided to Classified employees who work at least half time (20 hours per week) or more in a regular position and to Certified employees with a .50 FTE or greater contract.

Experience and Training
- Networking certifications;
- Microsoft MCSE and/or VMWare Certification preferred;
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform as an effective and competent Systems Administrator.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems; and
- Five years of professional experience;
Knowledge and Proficiency of:
- Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems;
- Network architectures, local and wide area enterprise network design and integration;
- Powershell scripting;
- Collaboration technologies (VoIP);
- Principles of network communications, protocols, topologies and security.
- Desktop Configuration Management;
- Microsoft Active Directory;
- Deployment and management of enterprise server based systems;
- Microsoft Active Directory Federated Services;
- Backup and Disaster Recovery;
- Server Virtualization;
Ability to:
- Follow written and oral instructions;
- Maintain the confidentiality of all proprietary and confidential data and information residing in the District.
- Exercise sound independent judgment; Work independently, with minimal supervision, and make appropriate decisions in the absence of a supervisor;
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; prepare clear, concise and accurate documentation, reports of work performed and other written materials;
- Install, configure, and maintain the operation of complex computing systems to achieve optimal technical performance and end user experience;
- Establish positive, productive working relationships with District staff, administrators, and partners;
- Participate in the evaluation of new software, hardware, and infrastructure solutions;
- Perform multiple tasks simultaneously, including handling interruptions, and return to and complete tasks in a timely manner;
- Operate a motor vehicle;
- Operate a personal computer and use program applications appropriate to assigned duties;
- Establish priorities and work within time constraints and deadlines;
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve system hardware, software, and networking issues;
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversees data center equipment, including converged platforms and backup appliances;
- Manages provisioning and deprovisioning of Active Directory user accounts through scripting; manages group membership to allow end users appropriate access to internal resources;
- Designs and maintains the Active Directory domain, including DNS, Group Policy, and File Services. Facilitates regulatory compliance as required;
- Procures and manages certificate and domain services for internal and external resources;
- Monitors system uptime and resolves system software and hardware issues as quickly as possible, effectively communicating any issues to management;
- Designs and maintains federated services infrastructure to securely enable authentication to third party products through Active Directory;
- Troubleshoots and resolves escalated issues;
- Coordinates with departmental teams to successfully deploy, manage and support server applications, client/server applications, and web accessible applications;
- Oversees and designs enterprise backup solution; performs data restores as needed;
- Establishes and maintains platform for system imaging, application deployment, patch management, and antivirus protection;
- Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with District policies, procedures, and safety practices.
- Researches, tests and implements system updates and/or revisions to maintain system efficiency, security and functionality;
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides back-up support to department staff as required; may perform other special projects related to systems technology.
- Participates in the evaluation of proposed solutions by performing technical research, and provides technical input to evaluative teams;
