About WSDOT
Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is the steward of an integrated, multimodal transportation system that helps to ensure people and goods move safely and efficiently throughout the state. In addition to building, maintaining, and operating the state highway system, WSDOT operates the largest ferry system in the nation, manages the world's longest floating bridge, and recently completed the world's widest tunneling project.
The Opportunity
WSDOT is currently seeking a highly skilled IT professional to join our team as the primary technical support resource for Enterprise Content Management (ECM), Business Process Management, and Document Capture applications. In this role, you will be responsible for providing support, analysis, and solutions documentation while adhering to the agencies' application standards. As the first point of contact for customers, you will ensure the initial resolution of reported problems by utilizing available support resources. Additionally, this position works closely with the ECM team and other IT staff to monitor application servers and resolve any performance issues. This is an excellent opportunity to collaborate with engineers, customers, and the Information Technology Division (ITD) Cybersecurity Office to ensure that ECM solutions meet established security standards.
What to Expect
Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the IT System Administrator will:
- Troubleshoot reported system failures or outages in WSDOT's ECM environments.
- Analyze database, system events, and application logs to determine the nature of the problem.
- Review solutions with senior technical support specialists and other IT staff.
- Work with the ITD staff in other disciplines to resolve and forecast future issues or resource shortages.
- Track historical trends and resolutions for recurring problems.
- Formulate and implement solutions to resolve issues and failures.
- Support security and cyber security penetration exercises and document solution implementations.
- Use ECM development software and tools to develop, test, and troubleshoot solutions.
- Monitor ECM applications and resources to identify and fix problems.
- Create, secure, update, and maintain applications in WSDOT's Document Management, Capture, and Workflow solutions.
Qualifications
To be considered for this opportunity, the following are required:
- Three (3) years of experience performing technical troubleshooting, problem definition, and resolving issues supporting developed applications for a large workgroup or enterprise.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer sciences or related field or equivalent.
- Experience in Microsoft Visual Studio supporting .Net languages to include but not limited to C#, VB.Net, and Java Script.

It is preferredthat qualified candidates also have the following:
- Must attain within 1 year the ability to write queries and views of moderate complexity.
- Working knowledge of ImageSource ILINX imaging and capture applications.
- Must complete ILINX CBT courses and independently make common application changes within 1 year.
- Must independently assist users and understand logging of the ECM systems within 6 months.
- Three (3) years of experience with Microsoft SQL, including reviewing and writing queries and views.
- Must attain within 1 year the ability to write queries and views of moderate complexity.
- Must assist in system upgrades, testing, and complete change requests performing all front-line support duties within 24 months.
- Training and two (2) years of experience with the system development lifecycle for enterprise content management solutions.
- Three (3) years of experience in testing and/or quality assurance for enterprise content management applications and solutions.
- Must independently assist users and understand logging of the ECM systems within 6 months.
- Must complete ILINX CBT courses and independently make common application changes within 1 year.
- Must assist in system upgrades, testing, and complete change requests performing all front-line support duties within 24 months.
Important Notes
- Washington Administrative Code (WAC) 357-16-197 mandates that all employees who work for executive cabinet agencies (which includes the Department of Transportation) must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
