Job Description
The Center for Global Development (CGD), an independent, non-partisan, non-profit policy research organization in Washington, DC seeks a paid intern to start immediately for a period of 9 months to support research, writing, and outreach work focused on gender and development.


The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong analytical, research, writing, and communications skills, as well as a track-record and capacity for productivity and efficiency. Experience working on issues related to gender equality and international development, as well as strong organization skills, are desired. The successful candidate will work closely with CGD Senior Fellows in administering a large-scale impact evaluation, researching and writing papers, planning events, and conducting outreach.


General Responsibilities


The intern will spend 9 months from mid-March – December 2019 working closely with program staff to support research on women entrepreneurs and economic empowerment. Examples of duties include:


  • Provide occasional support for general communications and events efforts
  • Assist with administrative tasks
  • Event planning: research speakers, prepare invitation letters, organize logistics and travel, and assist with event execution
  • Collaborate on writing papers, articles, and blogs
  • Analyze data and create graphics
  • Perform literature reviews, and preliminary data collection and analysis from various sources, including academic studies, multilateral institutions, financial institutions, and governments
  • Track gender and development news and newly published research


Qualifications And Skills


  • Outstanding communications and writing skills
  • Recent graduate from a Bachelor’s program, or currently enrolled in a Master’s program, ideally in economics, development studies, political science or a related field
  • Must be available for 20 hours a week
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • A positive attitude and great sense of humor
  • Interest in gender, economics, global development, political science, or other related fields
  • Quantitative and qualitative data analysis experience
  • Superb organizational skills and attention to detail


Compensation


This is a paid internship offering a competitive hourly wage. The internship will be for a maximum of 20 hours per week, for a period of nine months.
