Assist the Urban Arts Space exhibitions team with museum-quality art handling related to installation and de-installation of exhibitions. Tasks include: moving artwork (big/small/heavy/light) and crates; assisting with art packing/unpacking; hanging and installing art using various equipment and systems; cleaning and preparing gallery spaces, climbing ladders, patching and painting walls, light carpentry, and demolition work, gallery lighting; and implementing display designs. The exhibitions preparator works closely with the manager of exhibition logistics and facilities to execute exhibition and performance production; and actively engages student artists and interns to view the gallery and exhibition experience as a vital component of their learning experience and creative process. The exhibitions preparator collaborates with UAS senior staff, and interns to promote diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion across all aspects of facilities and exhibitions support.


Required: High School diploma or GED. Two years of relevant experience. Must be able to follow directions, work safely as part of a team, and observe best practices associated with art handling and associated art gallery tasks. Experience with interior painting, shop equipment and hand-held tools is required. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. safely, work on 8 to10-foot ladders and 20-foot personnel lifts.

The Urban Arts Space, within the College of Arts and Sciences, seeks an Intermittent Exhibition Preparator to join our team. Urban Arts Space (UAS) facilitates experimental galleries that adapt to the dynamic needs of the arts curriculum and communities served with a mission to challenge perceptions, deepen learning, and increase access to the arts.


This position may occasionally require evening and weekend hours. Work locations will include the UAS gallery in downtown Columbus, Hopkins Hall Gallery, and campus locations.


This is an intermittent position working on an as-needed basis and corresponds with the Urban Arts Space rotating gallery programming. 


The pay range for this job profile is $17.10 - $22.62. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
