Insurance Verification Specialist Jobs

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Verification of patient’s insurance benefits and coverage by working with the various health plans, office staff and patients.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Corresponding with a variety of insurance companies.
• Work closely with the billing team and front office staff on any insurance issues.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
• Verification of when the patient is eligible for their annual well visit.
• Contacting patients for clarification about their insurance as needed.
• Maintain strictest confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations.
• Assist front desk staff and call center staff in understanding carrier verification process
• Verifying insurance eligibility for medical, dental, and vision insurances for upcoming appointments by utilizing online web portals or by contacting the carriers directly.
• Documenting the benefit information in the practice management system.
• Verification of the patient’s primary care physician.
• Obtaining any out-of-pocket or out-of-network costs for the patient including deductibles, co pays and coinsurance.

KNOWLEDGE:

• Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
• Understanding of insurance benefits.
• One year of insurance verification preferred.
• Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Proficient in computers and relevant software applications and practice management technology.
• Ability to work independently on assigned tasks.
• Excellent verbal and written communications and interpersonal skills.
