Instructor/Media Arts Teacher For Animation Classes

POSITION: Media Arts teacher specializing primarily in various forms of animation and potentially short-form documentary film production (this is not a requirement), suitable for students in middle school through high school starting in the fall of 2023. Summer classes (2024) are taught during the week, while fall and spring classes are taught on the weekends.

The Position Is An Ideal Opportunity For Someone Who

• Has at least two years of experience teaching this age group
• Is outgoing and comfortable in a non-profit, media, and cultural environment
• Has the ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Loves teaching these disciplines to this age group and can inspire through the love of the craft

Primary duties: Responsible for teaching animation and ideally documentary film production to students in three-hour slots.

Prepare syllabus and teach all aspects of production from concept to final project. Present a range of animation styles with sample film clips. Organize a screening party on the last day of class.

For the animation class, organize and make available props, sets, and costumes as needed.

Proficiency: Familiar with video cameras, lighting equipment, animation and editing software, green screen, sound mixing, stop-motion animation, iPads, and Mac/PC computers.

Compensation: As an independent contractor, $1,250/class ($25/hour includes two hours of prep/wrap time per three-hour class for ten days).

Start date: Mid-September 2023
