As a member of the Six Red Marbles learning experience design team, you will create and oversee the development of superior learning experiences for our clients. You know how to align a customer’s needs and goals with educational and technological best practices. And you know how to confidently guide a client with a strong product.
The Instructional Designer will work collaboratively with a UX Designer to design a new, proprietary LMS. This LMS is used in tutoring centers across the United States and supports four main stakeholder groups, each of which has its own needs and use cases:
1. Students in grades PreK–12
2. Tutors
3. Center administrators
4. Parents

Essential Job Functions
· Note: Two rounds of client feedback, review, and revision will be included in all major deliverables detailed below.
· Using a variety of techniques, e.g., workshops, surveys, and other approaches, gather requirements for a new LMS.
· Create a requirements matrix capturing the outputs of the requirements gathering, adding in prioritization and other factors.
· Contribute to a functional specifications list, including all accessibility requirements.
· Support creation of 3 grade-band-specific sets of wireframes showing the UI, UX, features, and functionality of the proposed LMS. These wireframes are expected to include:
1. 30–50 screens per grade band group (PreK–3, 4–8, 9–12)
2. Limited interactivity, e.g., hotspots
· Contribute to the creation of high-fidelity visual design, using provided style guide resources, for the proposed LMS.
· Contribute to the application of the high-fidelity visual design to the wireframes, including look and feel and comps.
Project Specifications
· This project is expected to run from August 4, 2023, to November 3, 2023.
· The Instructional Designer will be paired with a User Experience Designer to ensure all learning needs are successfully transformed into design approaches and elements.
· All written content, including wireframes, will be reviewed by the copyedit team.
· We expect the time investment to be roughly as follows:
o 55 hours to gather requirements and create the requirements matrix
o 5 hours to contribute to and validate the functional specifications list
o 95 hours to support creation of the wireframes
o Please note that the distribution of hours to support the creation of each deliverable may shift to suit the candidate’s needs. The overall project commitment of 155 hours is expected to remain constant.
Desired Qualifications
· Experience gathering requirements for an LMS or related product; ability to share a portfolio and/or demo work in this area strongly preferred
· Ability to use various techniques to gather requirements, align stakeholders, and articulate a product vision
· Experience designing and building for the PreK–12 audience
· Expertise supporting the creation and validation of wireframes and low- and high-fidelity product mockups using a design tool like Figma, Adobe XD, Axure, Invision, etc.
· Knowledge of content authoring best practices using a CMS to push content to an LMS
· Knowledge of reporting needs for various stakeholder groups
· Proficient in accessibility standards
· Experience conducting independent research, as needed, to fill gaps, propose solutions, etc.
· Comfort writing and presenting to a diverse stakeholder audience
· Excellent customer service skills
