About the Role:
Contributes to Boston Scientific’s strategic objectives by leading a team, and our plant, towards operational excellence through the application of lean. Supports the advancement of lean by identifying and implementing innovative and sustainable solutions that eliminate waste and optimize value for our customers.


Your Responsibilities Will Include:
Someone in this role would be responsible for leading a team of industrial engineers towards a shared vision and strategy aligned with our broader Boston Scientific business objectives. They would be responsible for mentoring their team members regarding the application of Lean on our manufacturing lines, in business processes, and in the product development cycle. An ideal candidate would have some experience (2+ years) with the items listed below;

  • Responsible for collaborating, benchmarking, and improving industry best practices internal and external to BSC, through the Lean/LBP Council, Conferences, and Site Visits.
  • Responsible for understanding and adhering to the following Principles; Go See, Create Pull & Flow, Build in Quality, Focus on Process, Align to Strategy, Place Customers First, Engage People, and Engage Value Improvement.
  • Responsible for leading the Arden Hills plant’s Lean, Lean Business Process (LBP), and Industrial Engineering strategy.
  • Responsible for managing and improving the annual team budget, as well as project cross charges, expense approvals, and purchase orders.
  • Responsible for embedding the Essentials, specifically Lean and Lean Business Process, into the organization’s culture.
  • Responsible for coaching and mentoring industrial engineers as they develop and implement projects intended to help achieve year-over-year metric improvements for our manufacturing lines in the following categories; Safety, Ergonomics, Labor Efficiency, WIP, Cycle Time, and Floor Space.
  • Responsible for leading large-scale strategic plant level projects potentially impacting multiple processes, products, and sites. Ability to create DMAIC project plans that include relevant data and ultimately drive business results or Value Improvement Process (VIP).
  • Responsible for developing, hiring, and retaining industrial engineers in pursuit of sustaining and improving our team’s culture. Responsible for cascading and communicating business performance, promoting team collaboration, and recognizing ideal behaviors.
  • Responsible for coaching and mentoring industrial engineers as they develop, sustain, and improve the following Lean principles, tools, and systems for our manufacturing lines; Work Content Graph (line balancing), Standard Work, Standard WIP, Visual Staffing Plan, Variation Tracking, Equipment Capacity, 5S, 8 Wastes, Continuous Improvement System and Kaizen.
  • Responsible for leading the development and sustainment of product labor standards that meet our annual rates of improvement and standards policy.

What We’re Looking for in You:
Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years’ experience leading large cross functional teams toward a shared vision or strategy
  • 2+ years’ experience facilitating Kaizen/Problem Solving events, as well as Lean training courses
  • 2+ years’ experience managing and developing people
  • 2+ years’ mentoring and coaching others
  • 5+ years’ experience with Lean Principles, Systems, and Tools
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite Programs (Teams, Excel, Power Point, etc.) and familiar with AutoCAD.
  • Bachelor's degree required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering or Business Administration
  • Lean or Six Sigma Certification
  • Project Management Certification
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or an Engineering Field
  • 5+ years’ experience in the Medical Device Industry
