Job Description
External Title: Human Resources Business Partner
Location: Remote- U.S.
Reports to: Kristin Ebling – Director, HRBP
The Role
The HR Business Partner (HRBP) role is responsible for partnering with business units to enable business goal achievement while delivering an outstanding employee experience. This role partners with employees, management, and senior executives in assigned business units/departments in Canada and the US while partnering with HR teams globally. In this role, you cultivate partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added people-centered insights, counsel and advice to management and employees that reflects and enables the business strategies of the organization. As an HRBP, you maintain an excellent level of business acumen about your assigned business units/departments’ objectives, financial position, midrange plans, culture, and competitors.

HRBPs have both hands-on and strategic responsibilities for fostering positive employee experiences and cultivating a culture of innovation as the organization grows and scales through accelerated M&A activity.
Responsibilities
  • Provides input and guidance related to business unit/department restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions); works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations; maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required.
  • Attends and/or conducts meetings with respective business units, and consults with line management, providing HR guidance and counsel when appropriate.
  • Identifies training needs for business unit’s needs; participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follows up to ensure training M
  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation, including those related to compensation (i.e., terms for new hires, promotions, and transfers).
  • Translates business strategy and priorities to people cycle plan levers to enable organizational success.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Proficiency in O365 and HRIS.
  • 8+ years of HR experience with at least 5 years’ experience as an HR Business Partner in Corporate Staffs/Business Units (not Labor Relations) or the equivalent coupled with coaching at the Executive level, focus on performance management, workforce planning and data analytics.
  • Excellent organizational, attention to detail and problem-solving skills; ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with and influence senior and c-level executives.
  • University degree with emphasis in HR or equivalent years of HRBP related experience
  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization's workstreams, hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and related administrative practices, including working knowledge of ESA and FLSA requirements.
  • Ability to develop influential working relationships, built on credibility and accountability, with all levels in the organization.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and ability to autonomously drive programs, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Multi-National and Immigration Administration experience would be considered an asset.
  • Master’s Degree in HR and/or SHRM/CHRP designation an asset.
  • HRBP experience in business units related to Data Analytics, IT, Software Development and Engineering and/or Automotive or Utilities.
