Partners with employees and management to communicate various Human Resources (HR) and Training standards, policies, procedures and programs. Supports organization through administration of development resources for refinery employees at all levels; to include interns, supervisors and new employees.
- Utilizes specialized computer software to deliver training information based on need and training schedule.
- Verifies that training activity documentation is complete and properly retained.
- Participates in employee investigations and assists with providing recommendations on resolutions.
- Serves as a point of contact for assigned HR areas, which may include: employee relations; training, employment, labor relations, affirmative action, and/or employment equity programs.
- Schedules, proctors and provides remediation and reassessment support for knowledge-based tests.
- Reviews and updates training materials and tests as appropriate.
- Assists with development of Front Line Supervisors by administering the Supervisor Toolkit process for new and current Supervisors.
- Gives overview of HR policies and training to new hires.
- Assists with coordinating implementation and execution of Corporate Training initiatives, such as the Basic Operator Training program.
- Assists with special projects and functions of the department.
- Supports payroll processing.
- Performs data entry into SAP and LMS.
- Writes routine reports and correspondence.
- Initiates and completes processing of all duties involved in employment, termination, transfer and promotion of personnel in assigned area of responsibility.
- Administers Employee Integration Program by providing guidance to the Supervisor and new employee during onboarding.
- Partners with Operations, Maintenance, and Laboratory leadership to ensure all employee training, testing, and progression activities are completed on schedule.
- Communicates closely with payroll regarding employee training / certification completion that results in pay adjustment or job advancement.
- Analyzes data and assists in making recommendations to management for corrective action and/or continuous improvement.
- Designs and runs monthly reports.
- Provides guidance to management and employees on HR-related concerns, coordinates with other departments as needed and refers complex issues to higher levels.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Schedules classes and coordinates training facilities and resources in advance of training activities such as training content; PowerPoint presentation; training aids; and classroom setup.
- Basic skill using Microsoft Office programs (i.e., Word and Excel) required.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple assignments to ensure completion of tasks within stated time requirements required.
- Ability to cross-train in other department duties to ensure efficient coverage department responsibilities required.
- Ability to read and interpret company policies, regulatory guidelines, and other work-related documentation required.
- Bachelor’s or higher level degree in Human Resources, Business, or related area preferred.
- Ability to work with others to accomplish challenging assignments required.
- Ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal methods required.
- Skill in providing thorough, efficient, and effective customer service to individuals at all levels within the organization required.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Experience with LMS preferred.
- Ability to accomplish work within required timelines, including short, long, and emergency timeframes required.
- Experience with SAP preferred.
- Ability to abide by confidentiality requirements when working with sensitive information, results, and communications required.
- 3 years of professional-level Human Resources experience required.
- PHR certification preferred.
