Job Description
Summary of the main function/purpose of the position: Provides empowerment-based advocacy, safety planning, supportive counseling, crisis intervention and service management to Rapid Re-Housing participants suffering domestic violence and/or homeless survivors of domestic violence and referred by shelter, outreach services or other community partners. Provides information, referrals, and counseling to survivors. Coordinates services with the participant regarding their housing goals. II. Principal duties/responsibilities:
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, to meet participant needs.
  • Submits reporting documentation to meet funding requirements on a monthly and annual basis.
  • Respond to media requests unless designated by CEO. III. Accountability: Areas in which the position is accountable/responsible: Quality Control: Has high accountability for quality of service participants receive. Records: Accountable for ensuring records and documentation are accurate and current. Policies/Procedures: Adheres to all policies and procedures as required. IV. Supervision Responsibility: Direct supervisory responsibility: None V. Business-Related Contacts: Internal: Collaborates with all agency programs such as (but not limited to) Shelter, Rev 03/2010, 10/2005 3 Outreach, Rural, Peace Village, Administration, IFP, etc. in a team effort to provide quality services to participants. External: Educational, Vocational institutions, Homeless Coalition, Hillsborough County community partners, landlords, property managers and stakeholders. Has external business contact with community service providers as sources for participant referrals and program collaboration. VI. Educational and/or equivalence in experience requirements:
  • May provide crisis intervention and support via telephone or electronic communication.
  • Provide on-going safety planning with participants.
  • Attend required agency and community meetings in support of the program, funders and collaborative partnerships.
  • Provides supportive counseling, service management, advocacy, and crisis intervention for all approved rapid re-housing participants. Meets with participants on a regular basis for service management.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Occasional duties or projects which may be performed at irregular intervals:
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with landlords, property manager, and agencies providing housing resources.
  • Manages all aspects of assigned cases and acts as focal point with primary responsibility for services rendered to those participants.
  • Assists with the interview process and intake process for potential and new Rapid Re-Housing participants.
  • Ensures reporting and documentation is captured and tracked for all participants.
  • Develop and maintain community contacts to provide referral sources for participants.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. _______________________________________________________________________ Shall not:
  • Documentation for service notes will meet FCADV, THHI and FESG program standards.
  • Provides transportation for participants, on occasion, utilizing agency vehicles.
  • Coordinates and supervises educational and recreational activities for families.
  • Maintains participant files and ensures data is entered into the agency software system immediately after all participant contact. Maintains written records required for statistical reporting and programmatic objectives. Prepares and provides statistical information monthly.
  • Requires on-going 16-hours of DV related training after the first year. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Specialized or technical educational requirements: Computer literate, proficiency in MS Office/Windows preferred. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Certification or licensing requirements: Valid Florida driver's license and acceptable MVR required. Must successfully pass FBI background screening. Must be eligible to be sworn as a Deputy Clerk of the Circuit Court. VII. Specialized equipment or machines used in the course of the duties of the position. Personal Computer VIII. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Occasionally requires local travel transporting participants to appointments, etc. Position requires documenting case files and compiling reports. The position requires using hands occasionally.   • Reviews service plan with participants on a regular basis.
  • Assists participants with working on educational and employment goals when necessary in support of housing stability.
  • Requires 24-hour FCADV Core Competency training and additional 6-hours (30-hours total) to qualify for privilege status.
  • Attends ongoing case conference meetings.
  • Bachelor's degree in social work or related field required plus 1 year of related experience.
  • May facilitate groups for adults and children.
  • Service management and documentation meets FCADV (Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence), THHI (Tampa Hillsborough Homeless Initiative) and FESG (Florida Emergency Solutions Grant) program standards.
  • Adheres to confidentiality requirements.
  • Works with participants to secure safe and stable housing.
  • Refers participants to community resources and other organizations based on the participant's needs.
  • Engage in political activities that promote or oppose a specific political candidate.
