The Housing Assistant will work closely with the Housing Coordinator to ensure housing needs are met for newly arriving Refugees. Facilitating and supporting the housing set up process in communication with program staff.

Compensation: $15-$18 per hour

Role & Responsibilities

  • Maintain and organize storage areas.
  • Set up apartments/homes with the collected household items for new refugee arrivals in a timely fashion with volunteer teams.
  • Pick-up and delivery donation of household goods throughout the Greenville and Spartanburg area.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Other related tasks as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Ability to multi-task, improvise, schedule and adapt along with changing circumstances.
  • A desire to serve refugees in support of the mission of World Relief.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds multiple times required.
  • Flexibility in schedule and ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Good communication, customer service and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work and communicate well with diverse groups of people.
  • Self-motivated worker with the ability to demonstrate initiative and work well as part of a team.

  • Mature and personal Christian faith
  • Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
  • Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
  • Current driver’s license, and clean driving record required.
  • Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Evangelicals For the Health of The Nation document
  • Access to a reliable vehicle
  • Authorization to legally work in the US

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
  • The ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-15 pounds.
  • Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application information.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • General office setting. World Relief also offers hybrid and remote schedules for limited positions.
