Harborview Medical Center’s Environmental Services Department (EVS) has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time day shift HOSPITAL CUSTODIAN SUPERVISOR 2.

Responsibilities:
Under general direction, the Custodian Supervisor 2 will supervise at least 25 custodians, train staff, and perform administrative responsibilities, such as staff timecard review and approval, creating daily staff schedules and shift reports, and conducting and documenting employee reviews. This role will:
With delegated authority, supervise a minimum of 25 full time employees (FTEs), including: interview/recommend selection of applicants, conduct training, create and adjust staff schedules and assign work, review and approve time cards and act upon leave requests, conduct regular performance evaluations, conduct staff coaching and document regularly, recommend disciplinary action, lead team meetings.
Coach, develop, and support Custodians’ learning and growth within the EVS Department. Work closely with staff on a daily basis to ensure quality and safety standards are met and that staff have the tools and supplies they need. Oversee and ensure completion of annual staff training requirements.
Inspect assigned buildings/areas to determine cleaning and staffing needs. Analyze workloads and assign work to staff, with a focus on Operating Room turnover times, a key component of the supervisor’s responsibilities. Build and maintain a project calendar for weekly/monthly assignments. Supervise project progress. Maintain audit logs.
Conduct safety meetings. Enforce safety rules and regulations. Monitor staff compliance with safety requirements, including hand hygiene, retrain as needed, and report findings to the Operations Manager. Identify, report, and take corrective action to resolve potential safety hazards. Investigate accidents and complete incident reports in the hospital’s reporting system.
Analyze all concerns and evaluate to resolve in a timely manner. Follow through to ensure issues are resolved and tasks and projects are completed.
Exercise strong communication and customer service skills as the key liaison for the Nursing Managers, to resolve complaints or concerns.
Oversee the ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate) testing program. We use this technology to make sure our Surgery Department, Emergency Department, and Inpatient areas are cleaned correctly by swab-testing touch areas to ensure they are germ-free.
Perform UV-C Sterilization in designated areas of hospital while following prescribed safety protocols.
Carry a pager/portable radio/phone while on shift; will also carry a tablet with the EPIC (our bed tracking system) application on it, to ensure throughput in the hospital is moving as fast as possible.
Oversee and when necessary, ensure hands-on completion of floor care assignments.
Participate in the Environment of Care inspections performed throughout the hospital.
Prepare reports and other documentation, such as equipment inventories and custodial procedures.
Support and report directly to the Operations Manager.
Communicate and coordinate with the EVS Supervisor Team across shifts.
Perform other duties as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Three years of experience in custodial or general maintenance work, including two years of experience as a Custodian Supervisor OR equivalent education/experience.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except with there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
DESIRED:
Experience supervising custodial services staff in a large institution
Proven ability to take initiative and make thoughtful, strategic decisions in the absence of a manager.
