The Imaging Department at St. Luke’s Hospital – Warren Campus is looking for a Full-time Radiology technologist to join our dynamic team at our Washington Outpatient Location! The schedule for this position is daytime hours based on the needs of the Orthopedic office and Primary Care offices located within the building.
The X-Ray Technologist under the direction of a Radiologist, performs diagnostic radiographic procedures adhering to the principle of radiation protection, according to NJ State, NRC and TJC standards.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Properly identifies patient and exam and performs diagnostic radiographic services on patients with the maximum amount of care, while evaluating the technical quality.
  • Accountable for quality of digital images sent to PACS.
  • Demonstrates competency in the knowledge of the HIS/RIS and PACS systems appropriate to their job responsibilities.
  • Assists in gathering and recording data for Radiology Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement programs.
  • Provides educational information to the patient regarding their examination.
  • Knowledgeable regarding patient condition, history and appropriate background and information pertinent to proposed examination.
  • Communicates and interacts with patients/patients’ families, peers, supervisors, physicians and hospital personnel.
  • Accurately adheres to downtime procedures to assure appropriate information is available resulting in excellent continuity of care for patients.
  • Responsible for successful technical continuity of care and education of radiological procedures to patients.
  • Assumes responsibility for assigned area, making sure all equipment and supplies necessary for that area are readily available for use.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Frequent use of fingers and hands to operate equipment and chart information. Standing and walking for up to 8 hours per shift in 15 minute increments. Pushing, pulling and lifting of patients up to 500 pounds with assistance. Frequent stooping, lifting and raising arms above shoulder level. Lifting and moving of objects of up to 30 pounds. Hearing as it relates to normal conversation. Seeing as it relates to normal vision.
EDUCATION/LICENSURE:
Current New Jersey State Radiologic Technologist License (with NJ Dept. of Environmental Protection) required. ARRT Registration/ or registry eligible. Must pass registry within 1 year of hire date.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a staff technologist preferred with ongoing training in department procedures. Must rotate through all areas of Diagnostic Radiology. Current New Jersey State License required. Current CPR certification required. Computer experience preferred. Knowledge of PACS and HIS/RIS systems preferred.
