The role
The Home Loan Servicing Control and Remediation Manager will exercise dynamic oversight of SoFi’s mortgage portfolio across multiple data sources to ensure vendor implementation and performance proceeds as required and all documentation is prepared and submitted. In addition, Home Loan Servicing Control and Remediation manager will assist internal colleagues during ancillary projects.
Building out a sustainable operational support model for SoFi Bank’s Home Loan Servicing business, the Servicing professional will closely partner with our Home Loan Servicing Director and Home Loan Compliance team. They will assist with developing best-in-practice solutions to complex business challenges and identify opportunities to change, enhance, or streamline existing business projects and initiatives. Acting as a subject matter resource in Mortgage Servicing and owning the communication and control environment impacts effectively across the business unit to assure proper compliance with processes and regulatory requirements. This position interacts daily with vendor resources, employees, internal operations, supplier relationship management, procurement, accounting, finance, treasury operations, legal, and other internal and external stakeholders (engineering, product, marketing, risk, etc.)
This role has responsibility for supporting the Home Loans Business to ensure execution and adherence to the established risk framework, regulatory, and agency guidelines. Expected to manage compliance and subservicing oversight vendor relationships, this professional will support the creation, identification, assessment, mitigation, monitoring, and reporting of risk exposure and control performance across the mortgage servicing life cycle. A focus on execution and implementation of the risk control framework is a primary responsibility.
The ideal candidate will have deep experience in Mortgage loan servicing with expertise in multiple servicing disciplines including subservices oversight and governance. This position requires an independent leader who can provide support to maintain a strong and consistent control environment.
This professional will work collaboratively and cross-functionally with Home Loans Legal and Compliance to help advocate for and execute compliance strategy to further SoFi’s critical business objectives.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities Include But Not Limited To
  • Proactively minimize operational risk.
  • Develop forward-thinking analysis to facilitate the generation of management reports and scaling of our automated processes.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Provide subservices oversight compliance subject matter expertise Home Loans, making recommendations to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, always keeping member experience at the heart of that approach.
  • Prioritize competing responsibilities based on workload and demands
  • Identify required action items, lead changes related to home loan servicing compliance and issue resolution in a collaborative manner. Oversee bulletins, and business impacts; Document, plan and schedule necessary tasks ensuring work items are completed within the network timeframes.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed project plans, status reports, and issues logs during launch and post.
  • Verify work completed by subservices is compliant and provides sign off for vendor performance assessments submission.
  • Coordinate, communicate, and drive change in a cross-functional, fast-paced environment and lead and drive complex operational initiatives.
  • Design, document and conduct control tests to ensure proper processing according to established policies, procedures and regulations
  • Proactively identify operational opportunities to increase service quality or efficiency and compliance framework.
  • Scope risk mitigation opportunities and develop longer-term approaches from a strategic perspective
  • Act as liaison with Business Unit for changes to Servicing mandates and operational functions
  • Continually evaluate environment for opportunities to proactively manage risk and improve processes based on observation, reviews, and feedback and to act on those opportunities
  • Develop and manage Mortgage Servicing operational Risk Management program inclusive of process flow, risk identification and library of controls
  • Track and report milestone events associated with Servicing compliance.
  • Compile Data and Dashboards to present metrics and findings while maintaining comprehensive reports outlining the scope, sample size, findings and recommendations for corrective action based on internal guidelines
  • Contribute in virtual meetings and keep team members informed of relevant tasks and issues including current status, dependencies and expected timelines for completion.
  • Manage the day-by-day relationship with the subservices oversight vendor, being the point of contact for all compliance-related activity and responding to/leading responses to escalations when needed.
  • Complete, submit, and retain all necessary documentation and reports to support Home Loan Servicing compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Educate internal teams and external partners on Mortgage Servicing rules, banking regulations and operating procedures as needed.
Qualifications
  • BS/BA preferred and 8+ related work experience
  • Strong project management discipline and ability to deliver a variety of operational and technical solutions
  • Minimum of 10 years proven Mortgage Servicing Experience or 5 years of subservices oversight experience
  • Working knowledge of Fannie Mae / Freddie Mac Servicing guide and regulatory (OCC / Federal Reserve / CFPB) best practices
  • Results oriented, demonstrated achievement of exceeding expectations
  • Fluent in Excel and PowerPoint, comfortable with analyzing large datasets in Google suite, MS Office apps, etc.
  • Experience or deep knowledge of Investor Reporting, Custodial Accounting, Loss Mitigation, Foreclosure, Bankruptcy, Collections, Customer Service, Project Management, Risk Analysis or other relevant servicing areas strongly preferred.
