Position Title: Health Resource Analyst I


Location: Hybrid in Northern Nevada


Position End Date: 7/31/2024


Salary: Part-time: $21.84/per hour


Overview:


The CDC Foundation is seeking a Health Resource Analyst I (HRA I) to help assist with meeting deliverable due dates and to help spread the word about One Health to youth. A major component of this position involves manning the One Health booth at events such as rodeos, 4-H events or meetings, livestock shows, etc. and providing educational presentations at 4-H meetings, classrooms, or other youth programs.


One Health is an approach that recognizes that the health of people is closely connected to the health of animals and our shared environment. The Nevada Office of State Epidemiology (OSE) has initiated the One Health movement within Nevada along with the help of our partners (Nevada Department of Agriculture, Nevada Department of Wildlife, UNR 4-H Cooperative Extension, and UNR Clinical Veterinarians). The aim is to provide educational opportunities regarding the importance of human and animal health to youth involved in agriculture, 4-H, hunting and fishing, and to those who have household pets.


Qualifications:


  • Ability to project trends based on existing data and the application of statistical techniques
  • Experience within the agriculture field such as previous involvement in 4-H, FFA or similar agriculture/animal clubs (not required, preferred)
  • Ability to write regulations which meet program objectives and which are defensible; mediate between contending parties; operate personal computers and related software
  • General knowledge of descriptive statistics and research methods utilized to analyze health-related data and implement health planning activities
  • Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, public administration, social sciences or closely related field
  • Ability to negotiate and exchange ideas and information with others to formulate policies and programs and/or arrive jointly at decisions or solutions
  • Ability to perform basic calculations such as computing ratios, rates and percentages to analyze health-related statistical data
  • Ability to assimilate a large volume of information and write concise, well written, logical summaries of the issues and analytical reports on health programs, facilities and services
  • Working knowledge of applicable federal and State health laws and regulations; health planning theory; the organization and management of health agencies and delivery systems; medical and health care terminology related to health programs, facilities, equipment and services
  • OR an equivalent combination of education and experience


Responsibilities:


  • Provide education in a fun/hands on manner
  • Support in creating educational materials for the One Health project
  • Primary responsibilities for presentations would be:
  • Tending to our hands-on handwash station to show the spread of disease and answering any questions
  • Showcase the interactive website
  • Perform educational activities
  • Set up/take down
  • Providing educational material to youth (brochures, educational games, etc.)

This role is involved in a dynamic public health program. As such, roles and responsibilities are subject to change as situations evolve. Roles and responsibilities listed above may be expanded upon or updated to match priorities and needs, once written approval is received by both the CDC Foundation and Nevada Department of Health and Human Services, in order to best support the State of Nevada in their public health programming.


This position is hybrid located in Northern Nevada. CDC Foundation retains the right to make adjustments to this as required.


This position requires the operation of a motor vehicle as a component of the job responsibilities and duties. In adherence with CDC Foundation’s Driver Safety Motor Vehicle Policy (“Policy”), offers for employment for this position require the Applicant to provide authorization to the CDC Foundation to conduct a Motor Vehicle Record (“MVR”) review both pre-employment and also annually post-employment while in this position. Additionally, if an offer of employment is accepted, employees in these positions must possess and maintain a valid driver's license in their state of residence, self-report motor vehicle violations/convictions, and provide proof of acceptable insurance coverage with mandatory minimum coverages as set forth within the Driver Safety Motor Vehicle policy.
