Main Purpose

We are seeking a dynamic, self-driven Health and Safety Specialist to administer our H&S programs and practices to our Field Service and Technical Service groups. This position will be based out of our La Porte, TX location and will require significant travel.

The role

Key job responsibilities

• Work with all levels of the organization including management, supervisors, and other personnel on all H&S related matters.
• Partner with operations on appropriate corrective actions should circumstances warrant them.
• Prepare H&S related reports and correspondence.
• Assist our field management personnel to ensure compliance with occupational hygiene and safety regulatory requirements, conduct Health and Safety (H&S) related training, identify risk reduction methods, and work with our field managers in implementing those methods.
• Conduct Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) for incident reviews for injuries, near misses, and property damage.
• Work with personnel in performing risk assessments and ensuring needed controls and protective measures are completed.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Be responsible for the roll-out of monthly safety briefings that are related to incident, injury, and OSHA recordable trends.
• Competency in recognizing and controlling safety hazards and risks.
• Coordination with operations and other support staff to resolve issues that impact the health and wellbeing of our team members.
• Ensure sites are prepared for and ready to respond in the event of an emergency; document and data control, planning, policies, training, accidents, incidents, and corrective/preventative action.

The person

Qualifications

• Maintenance of a 40-Hour HAZWOPER and/or 30-Hour Construction Safety certifications, are preferred.
• One (1) to three (3) years of experience in health and safety in field operations are required.
• Individual must have strong technical knowledge, and ability to apply skill sets based on assignment and location.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Environmental Science or closely related field is required.
• Ability to travel a minimum of 50% to facilities throughout the US.
• Experience with confined space entry and tank cleaning operations is preferred.
