About Phase3D: We are commercializing a computer vision technology which performs real time quality inspection and monitoring for industrial 3D printing (additive manufacturing, AM). This technology dramatically changes the metal AM industry by providing immediate component certification and early cancellation of defective builds, allowing for AM parts to transition into the production phase.

Phase3D is headquartered in the city of Chicago, a few miles from the city center. We work closely with federal scientists and engineers to develop machine vision technology for additive manufacturing (hardware and software based).We have established research partnerships with multiple national laboratories, US departments, NASA, and research institutions.

About Phase3D Culture: Phase3D is currently a small team, comprised of independent thinkers, working to solve challenges in software development, data analysis, mechatronics, electrical engineering, and computer engineering. We are a cross-disciplined group and are excited to be pioneers in the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence and machine learning for 3D printing.This is a fast-paced, startup work environment, with the resources and facilities of a US National Laboratory. This means a lot of variability of workflow and responsibilities, with an emphasis on creative problem solving.You will have the chance to be a part of a team making headlines in the 3D printing world.

About the Role: We are looking for a candidate with a well-rounded set of Product Management skills to support Phase3D’s technology development, commercialization, and product strategy. This role will incorporate a mix of fast paced work, in addition to management and foresight of ongoing and future projects to mature the readiness level of Phase3D technology.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for tools for product planning (Monday.com, Asana, etc.)
  • Occasionally speak with customers and research partnersto assess product performance and improvement opportunities
  • Plan resource deployment (trip planning, scheduling) for the team.
  • Manage a multi-disciplinary team in the planning and execution of end user product technology strategy and planning workshops.
  • Implement stage gate or equivalent approach to hardware and software product development.
  • Ability to work 4+ days/week in-person in Chicago area.
  • Work with whole team to determine product roadmap, feature delivery, development cadence and implement product development cycles.
  • Identify key product milestones and risks associated with product delivery.Flag scope changes and other non-standard events and determine impact to timeline.
  • Assess team’s operational strengths to improve efficiency.
  • Work with executives and team members to assess company product output capability and identify growth opportunities.


Required Experience:

  • Experience setting development timelines according to common frameworks for hardware and software development and integration.
  • Experience understanding drivers of success in hardware and software start-ups.
  • Proven analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up product decision.Problem solving skills a must.
  • Experience with flexibility/ requirements of the “many hats” startup.
  • Experience developing and prioritizing product features and requirements based on customer and market needs, technical feasibility, and business value.
  • Experience combining internal software teams and hardware teams, to build a strong, executable roadmap (people management, understanding engineering processes, hiring, etc.)

Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Management of combined hardware and software product development, commercialization, and releases.
  • Engineering, mathematics or other technical degree, Bachelor’s of Science or Master’s degree.
  • 10+ years of product management experience, ideally including experience in engineering, manufacturing, sensors, AI/ML industries, etc.
  • Strong analytical decision making skills (using data to support strategic decisions).

Preferred Qualifications:

·Exposure to technically relevant industries such as AI/ML, manufacturing, computer vision, 3D printing

Travel expectations:

·Less than 20% travel time
