Head, Global Retirement will:

  • Set and oversee the financial well-being strategy for the Company
  • Support Pension Investment group in setting and administering pension funding policy;
  • Lead Acquisition & Divestiture retirement / benefits matters during diligence, integrations and separations.
  • Assist BUHR/ER in negotiation of social plans with unions and works councils as needed;
  • Assess current retirement benefits programs, market trends, legislative, tax and social changes that impact the Company’s programs;
  • Support Finance by providing pension accounting expertise;
  • Act as a member of the U.S. Benefit Claims Committee, providing technical guidance;
  • Present strategy and retirement benefit proposals (new or changed plans) to management (the Pension and Benefits Committee)
  • Provide interpretive guidance to Global Services with respect to escalations in the retirement benefit area;
  • Participate in pension valuation process, overseeing and assessing results provided by consultant, help Controller’s group and Treasury to understand pension actuarial principles as needed;
  • Lead the strategy and design on severance programs across the globe
  • Work with the Heads of the other Benefits lines to set overall Benefits strategy and to ensure coordination of strategies among the lines;
  • Set and oversee the retirement benefit (pension, savings, retiree medical) strategy for the Company
  • Develop reporting metrics and benchmarking regarding current retirement plan performance;
  • Participate in development of global communication strategy in relation to benefits, along with ensuring that employees have appropriate counseling available.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years working in a Benefits function (required) with a strong background in design, development and delivery of retirement benefit programs for large multinational company(s); combination of consulting and corporate experience preferred;
  • Strong analytical skills and comprehension of insurance underwriting and actuarial concepts;
  • Knowledge of emerging global market trends, cultural and competitive practices and legislation;
  • Completion of at least some of the actuarial exams (associate or fellow of the Society of Actuaries is best suited) preferred
  • BA/BS degree required within Mathematics, Finance or a related discipline preferred
  • Global scope and responsibility experience strongly preferred;
  • Strong leadership skills;
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills;
    • Sense of urgency, attention to detail and accuracy, well organized and able to prioritize;

  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of benefits laws and regulations;
  • International travel of up to 10%.
  • Ability to commute or relocate to the New Brunswick area is required.
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills;

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $160,000 -$276,000.

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
