Graduate Engineer - Engineering
Section 1 – Position Summary
Responsible for quality control review of engineering projects. Tracks work progress of the various engineering design and construction projects utilizing scheduling software. Reviews change orders, requests for information, field changes, and pay requests. Acts as a project manager for assigned projects. Maintains project management procedures. Works under general supervision.
Section 2 – Major Responsibilities

• Assists project managers with tie-ins and shut-downs.
• Reviews requests for information, field changes, and change orders for construction projects.
• Performs and/or manages special projects and studies needed.
• Participates in project design review meetings and in construction progress meetings.
• Develops and maintains a project management manual, standard forms and standard project correspondence.
• Reviews design plans and specifications for completeness and accuracy as a quality control function.
• Assists and advises the Operations departments with special projects and operational problems.

Section 3 – Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Proficiency in use of Microsoft Word, Excel and management software.
Section 4 – Education And Experience

• Requires a valid Texas Driver’s License.
• Experience utilizing engineering design and project management software.
• Experience with surveying layout, coordinate geometry, and right-of-way calculations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or other related field received from an accredited college or university.

Section 5 – Environmental Factors, Activity Levels and Equipment
Moderate physical labor and considerable mental attention required with some eyestrain. Generally desirable conditions with some outside visits to work-sites with varying environmental conditions. Considerable time can be spent working with and viewing a computer screen. Considerable time viewing plans, specifications and reading reports and correspondence. Some time will be spent at construction sites, traversing rough terrain, climbing stairs and ladders to access structures. Equipment used includes calculators, computers and some field survey equipment.
