Gross Operating Expense (GOE) Assistant Controller

Location: Knoxville, TN or Wilton CT

How you’ll make your mark
As the GOE Assistant Controller, you will have direct responsibility and accountability for the timely and accurate delivery of all our operating businesses’ results. It is a key role that will enable financial statement reporting and analytics. Some of the key responsibilities include:
  • Partner with GOE FP&A team and other business-critical teams at AIG to provide meaningful insight into our different operations’ financial results and analytics
  • Maintain financial controls and process documentation
  • Lead various initiatives to identify and implement process enhancements and transformation to the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting and analytics processes
  • Partner with Office of Accounting Policy to gain an understanding of applicable accounting pronouncements and policies to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Communicate financial results to executive management and key financial stakeholders
  • Responsible for GOE accounting, reconciliation for all of our North America, International and Other Operations
What you’ll need to succeed
You’ll need a minimum of 10+ years of experience managing a global team in Finance and Accounting. Able to demonstrate strong business and financial acumen as well as advanced change management and project management skills, you’ll understand and grasp processes and establish procedures for the analysis and reporting of financial data. You’ll also need:
  • Strong operational experience with U.S. GAAP. Statutory reporting a plus
  • CPA or other accounting designation
  • Bachelor’s Degree (Accounting or Finance major preferred but not required)

Please note: This position can only be performed in the Cities noted above, as the position requires working in the office 3-4 days per week.
