JOB MISSION:
The Global Sports Marketing Associate Manager, American Football, will serve in a pivotal growth role in shaping the immediate and long-term future of the American Football category at New Balance. Working closely with cross-functional teams internally/externally, the role will lead, innovate, and support the American Football category. This role will manage our football athletes and agents and work closely with the football marketing and product teams while identifying future brand opportunities aligned with the global strategy. Building strong relationships with athletes, agents, teams, equipment managers, staff, and regional/local internal teams to drive maximum heat for the brand via athletes and brand partnerships. Additional responsibilities include product management, internal operations, and athlete scouting.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Develop, foster, and maximize relationships with teams, agents, athletes, and relevant sports industry leaders.
- Attend games, photo shoots, event activations, and other needs to support the growth of the category
- The day to day management of athletes signed to the brand and being the primary point of contact for the athletes/agents. That includes but is not limited to full boutique servicing of athlete product needs and facilitation and execution of marketing photoshoots, social posts, appearances, and charity programs.
- Work closely with global product and marketing teams on the development of seasonal plans.
- Maximize ROI of partnerships across brand and against key business objectives via collaboration with global, regional, and local teams.
- Proficiency with Diver, Aurora & Microsoft Office; ability to provide relevant information through reporting tools; presentation created in PowerPoint.
- Create databases for allotments, order numbers, sizes, and all assets for all athletes, and relevant partners
- Manage budget and strategically optimize spend across multiple years.
- Support contract negotiations, including creation and execution. Including management of contractual payments
- Quantify and track ROI of partnership assets and activation.
- Identify disruptive opportunities to grow brand presence within existing partnerships.
REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:
- Strategic (disruptive) thinker, with proven analytical and problem-solving skills
- Commercial or business development background preferred with exceptional project management skills
- Strong contract negotiation, organizational, verbal/written presentation skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively manage teams internally and externally at varying levels of seniority.
- Domestic Travel: 25%+ (occasional nights/weekends required to attend matches and events)
- High level of executive presence and professionalism
- 5+ years of extensive experience working in the American Football industry, general sports marketing and/or sports industry.
- Self-motivated and entrepreneurial spirit with sense of urgency
- Maintain an existing network in American Football and/or the general sports industry
- Candidates will be based in Boston or must be willing to relocate to the Boston area.
